    • modify the air filter housing for future filter changes, 2019 F53 chassis
First of all, this is a real PIA to change out on a motorhome but if you make a small modification to the housing, future changes will be a little easier. Depending on your housing is mounted you'll have to figure out how to remove it. Mine is bolted to the frame on the right side with two bolts. There is a center support also but I can't access the mounting bolt. Removing the two right-side bolts enabled me to wiggle the housing around so I could separate the top from the bottom. Then disconnect the wires from the air delivery boot, loosen the hose clamp and with some effort you can remove the upper housing. There are three slots on the back side of the upper housing that engage tabs in the bottom housing. I cut the bottom out of the two outside slots so they just slip over the tabs. You'll still have the middle tab to align the upper housing and it makes it a whole lot easier when removing and reinstalling the housing. The engine compartment in the 2020 Thor Windsport 29m makes the air filter very hard to swap out. It opens up with barely enough space to get the filter out, but the actual filter fits perfectly and is easy to install.

Installation involves a learning curve…but once you google a few instructions, the bottom line is that you need no tools…just unsnap the top cover, tweak it back as you lift.
