Top Amazon Reviews

  • Good for the price! Don't let negative reviews scare you off.
Color: Deep Indigo Style: Unlocked Smartphone
Overall the Moto G Pure is a good phone for the money. I do not play games or take a lot of photos. I do not have a lot of apps installed either. I use the phone for calls, texts, navigation, browsing the interwebs, and using a few apps (amazon, ebay, offer up, banking, health care). For these purposes, the phone is more than adequate. I am VERY happy with the purchase. I was going to use this phone as a temp phone until the new iPhone SE reviews came out. I like the G Pure so much that I might just keep it long term. So, if you have a similar use case, then do not be scared of the reviews showing horrible geekbench scores for the MediaTek Helios processor. Also, the near stock Android experience with no bloatware is refreshing. I like the little moto tweaks, like chopping twice for the flashlight. However, there are some caveats: There is no 5G and no NFC. So no google pay (do you trust google?). The lack of 5G is not a deal breaker for me as my carrier charges extra for 5G anyways. The face unlock is unreliable (boo). I do not take selfies, so it could very well be that I am holding the phone incorrectly when trying to unlock the phone. However, I feel like an idiot moving the phone around trying to get the phone to unlock with facial recognition until the phone gives up and begs me to use fingerprint or PIN unlock. I was really hoping this feature was going to make me feel like I have a cheap iPhone. I was mistaken. This is not a deal breaker, but it is a let down. The storage is a pitiful 32 GB. The OS alone with the preinstalled google aps uses about half of that. So if you have/need lots of apps look elsewhere. My previous 2017 phone also had the same amount of storage but more carrier bloatware. Still, the 32 GB feels cramped for me and will definitely feel cramped for most people. The OS is android 11. This is already one version behind the current android 12 (at the date of purchase Feb. 2020), but the G Pure is supposed to get updated to android 12 and then that's probably it. This is the reason that I chose the G Pure over the G Play. The G Play has a bigger battery and a more commonly targeted Qualcomm processor. But the G Play has android 10 and will only get updated to android 11. Why does Motorola makes such good phones and have such a horrible update policy? If any Motorola bots are reading this, please note that I would buy a more expensive Motorola phone AND recommend Motorola to others if this were not the case. As it stands, I expect every Motorola phone purchase to result in being abandoned before you even get your new phone in the mail. I know that there are more "cons" listed than "pluses", but I think some of the "cons" would be deal breakers for a lot of people. BUT, overall I am VERY happy with the purchase for my use case and expect to sue the phone for quite some time at the moment. So if you have similar needs, then you should expect to be happy as well. ... show more

  • Compatible and easy to use
2 years later and its going strong. Good quality, sturdy build, and last a while. It does slow down over time which is incredibly frustrating. The pen became disconnected and the pen's ad kept popping up that it was missing... so it is not very smart all of the time. But it lasted me a long time and got me through on the Verizon's plans. ... show more

  • Great Value and Performs Well
Color: Deep Indigo Style: Unlocked Smartphone
I got this one for the family to replace a basic flip phone. I use the POWER version of this phone myself and had confidence that it would be a good upgrade from a basic as a first smart phone. It is an EXCELLENT choice as the screen is large and you can configure everything so as not to be too confusing for a non tecchie. The phone call performance is excellent with good sound quality in both directions. This is NOT the fastest phone or one that has a lot of storage or memory...but I knew that going in and I can always add a big microSD if she ever needs more than is included as there is a single slot for one right next to the sim card in the pop out drawer, This one worked perfectly moving the Sim Card from a T Moble account phone and because the PRIOR phone was a BASIC phone...the numbers/contacts did NOT move over or download by themselves as they WILL if you are moving from a smart phone. I had to first EXPORT the contacts to the BASIC phone SIM card before moving the card to the new Moto Pur. Lots of easy videos on this 2 minute job on line. Once I did that...all was well after allowing some time to load up, We got a nice leatherette billfold type case for this and we have a happy family member. I really don't think there is a better smart phone in this price range and the camera is WAY better than you might think...I think they measure the single lens rather than adding up all separate lenses...NOT the STATE of the ART camera in a $1k phone but Really nice quality at 1/10th the price! If you want more power and storage and camera...get the power version for 100 bucks more...but in the meantime...if you're needs and your budget are not as great...the Pur is an excellent choice. ... show more

  • Wish I had done this sooner
Color: Midnight Blue Style: Unlocked Smartphone
Ive had this phone for years now, but still wish I had done this sooner. This was the first time ever buying a phone off Amazon. Every other phone Ive ever had came from a brick and mortar store...AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. I had decided to drop my overpriced cell provider and switch to Mint Mobile, and my partner told be about buying phones off Amazon. I was a bit skeptical, but it was a good decision. More importantly, every phone I had before this was either an iPhone or Samsung. I ditched iPhone roughly a decade ago and switched to Samsung and have never regretted it as I love the android OS much more than the Apple software. This was the first time I would own a Motorola since the days of the flip phone. But I liked the price, I liked the options, and I decided Id try it out and return it if I didnt like it. I still have this phone today. I work as an Officer, and where my old iPhones and multiple generations of Samsungs have eventually been damaged and had to bite the dust, otterbox covers or no, this thing still doesnt even have a single scratch or crack. It has been dropped, scraped against the ground, kicked a couple times, and once time it was thrown across a parking lot (again, Officer...im not the one doing that lol), and in an honestly cheap case that isnt even perfectly molded to the phone it STILL hasnt come close to showing signs of damage. Still have the stylus too, which I also say is impressive. I know modern motos no longer have the same reputation they did in the flip phone and prior days, I know they do break and crack and all that...but this is a review for MINE, and if mine has withstood everything the day to day life of a guy who works as an Officer deep in the ghettos and hoods of the city and lives out deep in the country backwoods, then I can help but wonder what in the world some of these other people are doing with their motos to actually break them. ... show more

  • DONT BUY THIS PHONE
Color: Midnight Blue Style: Unlocked Smartphone
I have had LG phones on and off for 10 years i choose them or Samsung. 6 years ago is when they stopped being good. This phone can't even open instagram without crashing itself! This latest update from android comepletly destroyed this already barely functional phone. I can only use this phone maybe an hour in day before it just gives me anxiety just trying to use it. Wanna do a quick google search, wanna also find out what modern day dial-up feels like with your phones operating system..... Look no further than this phone, wanna wait 5 minutes real time to use you video on you camera apart of the phones OS ya can't even do that. It opens to the camera you switch to the video get 2 seconds recording and the phone crashes back to home screen. I can't stress this enough DON'T BUY THIS PHONE. i absolutely regret buying this phone it was an utter waste of money, I could have bought an IPHONE XR on here for the same price this was at the time of buying. I can guarantee I wouldn't have dealt with any headaches besides making the switch from all my google accounts I have had for 12 years. That still would have been less frustrating then owning this phone. Anything to deal with media i don't even use anymore and have deleted. Genuinely because its impossible to even use them. I'm not even able to casually look at reels on facebook or even communicating with people i don't live near or do is impossible on this phone. it will crash 6 times loading messenger. i only have 12 gigs of data used, even after deleting nearly everything besides social and communication things aren't on this phone and it can still barely run. If i was in an emergency and needed this phone to work the OS calling app would crash and you would die. I can barely make any communication with this device which is its most BASIC function. That is still a chore to even use! Heed my warning do not buy this phone, don't gift this phone(unless its someone you hate) Stick to Samsung or Apple there are few other good phone manufacturers worth the price. A low end model of either of those phones manufacturer on a budget, you would still have a better experience and have a truly just functional phone. if i could get a full refund for this phone i would! Stay away from this trash, all of these phones deserve to be in a landfill. ... show more

  • Better RF Performance, Superb Value
Color: Deep Indigo Style: Unlocked Smartphone
The best part of this phone is it gets workable signal when others seem not to be able to do so. Any phone can run apps but most have lousy RF performance. The RF performance of this phone seems to allow it to get a workable signal where other phones do not. I was often in areas which seemed to have no to marginal coverage. Now with this phone they all seem workable. Casually comparing its performance to other kinds of phones in use in the same area by others on various networks, this phone will typically be able to make calls when others cannot. It is clearly better than the phone it replaced. Perhaps it is realted to Motorola being an old line radio company. Who knows. But it is a superior RF performer. I tested using different SIM cards and it works with both Verizon and T-Mobile (a GSM carrier) networks. This is pretty unusual because most phones are either Verizon or GSM but not both. The phone is advertised as working with ALL US carriers and this seems to be a good claim. Maybe the thing is an SDR? Wouldn't that be nice. The wifi section has both 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands. Both work very well. Using a directional beam as the access point I was able to get a workable 2.4 link at about a half mile. If you want to play with this I used a Ubiquiti Powerbeam PBE M2 400 which you can get on Amazon. The phone is also very stable, having not yet crashed after a few months of use. The phone comes with Android 11, which is very good and it will ask you to upgrade to 12. Both versions are excellent and stable on this phone. There are no hangs or crashes. The memory holds all the apps I need and is only about 60% used. Battery life can go way past two days if you are just on standby and have all the saver features turned on. The two days is with "normal" use as in my kind of normal use versus playing games or watching video all day. Charging is quite fast and considering you can run a day with far less than 100% battery, the time to refresh the battery is quite quick. The camera is average, which in my case is good enough, but keep in mind it's a cell phone. If you want to do real photography get a DSLR. For the money you will not find a better deal. There is no way I would pay $1200 for a phone especially when I can get 90% of the way there for 5% of the cost. Mot has really done a great job. I hope they keep up the great work because we need solid, good performing phones at this cost level. If you want a phone that just works and does so very well and don't care about fashion, get this. ... show more

  • Great for the price.
Color: Midnight Blue Style: Unlocked Smartphone
I picked this phone specifically because, aside from needing a replacement for my broken phone, I wanted a stylus phone to play stuff on a DS emulator (and 3DS emulator but I can't find any settings other than downscaling it into ugly mode to get a good frame rate, but I wasn't really expecting that capability for this price.) for those that don't know, you need a pressure stylus to get good accuracy as that's what the DS uses, whereas third party phone stylus...es? Styli? Not sure the plural for that. But they are just rubber bumps at the end that mimic the capacitor touch of a finger. Been playing Trauma Center and the accuracy is nearly perfect, and what imperfections there are might be down to the game or emulator rather than the phone. My only real complaint, and an issue I've never really had before even on cheaper phones, is that it starts to lag as I type long blocks of text. Eventually being nearly unusable. I bypass this by just copypasting my current text into a notepad document each time the lag starts and then pasting the lot of it back when I'm done (had to do that once while typing this review) so I'm not sure what's up there. Otherwise great phone. Waited a few months to write review since it is refurbished and wanted to give it time. ... show more
