  • Good budget phone, amazing battery
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
This is, in my opinion, the best budget phone you can buy at the moment. Screen- Nothing remarkable. About what you'd expect for the price. Nice big screen with small bezels. It gets nice and bright, but the minimum brightness is still too bright for me when the room is completely dark. The blacks aren't especially dark, but I'm used to an OLED screen so I fully expected that. Size- It's MASSIVE. This is a good thing to me- I have big hands and like a big screen. If you like small phones, this isn't the phone for you- that battery has to go somewhere. Camera- Pretty good! Compared to my old Galaxy S8, both cameras are noticeably better. It also has an ultra-wide camera, which I don't use much, and a macro lens, which lets you take photos of very close things- that one's a lot more useful. Performance- Totally fine. I haven't noticed lag in any of the apps I use or games I play. I think the days of worrying about your phone's performance, even for a budget phone, are over. Battery- Absolutely the star of the show. This battery lasts FOREVER. The second day I had it, I intentionally left the screen on as much as possible, and didn't charge it at all from when I woke up to when I went to bed. I racked up 10 hours of screentime, and it still had 45% battery left when I went to sleep. With my normal usage, I could very well imagine this phone actually lasting 3 days. VERY impressive. I charge my phone every night, but this pretty much guarantees I'll never need to worry about battery degradation. Overall I don't have any major complaints and I LOVE never having to worry about having a dead battery. Great phone. ... show more

  • Incredible Value. Great Phone.
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
I traded my working Samsung Galaxy S8 for this Moto G Power 2020. I liked the Galaxy, but Samsung ended support for the phone at Android 9, with no security updates for the past year, so I felt compelled to part with it. This is a sturdy phone with great battery life at a bargain price. I really don't think you can do better than $220 for a near-pure Android phone with 4GB RAM. The processor is a 6xx series vs. the Samsung's 8xx series. A reboot will take between 60 to 90 seconds, or more. This is not a deal-breaker for me, but for other impatient reviewers, this will seem like forever. You should be realistic. This phone costs a third the price of a Galaxy or iPhone, but has far more than a third the capability. Sound out of the two speakers is excellent. Display is very good. I've used the zoom and regular cameras and it takes great pics. Haven't tried the widescreen yet. There's really no sense in comparing this phone to Apple's iPhones at $1,000 minimum. Apple cameras are the best. That's what the company aims for. It's not really a phone. Should be called iCameras. A few caviats. This phone cones with Android 10 and some early 2020 security updates. Between updating the updates, then upgrading to Android 11, be prepared to reboot the phone at least a dozen times over the first couple days. You can let updates do their thing in the background and reboot less frequently, but I like to get the phone at the newest security update as quickly as possible. Some of the very cool features of Android 11 are the 3 finger screen capture and the various Moto gestures. I'm still figuring out all the stuff this phone is capable of doing, but quite impressed so far. At $220, considering it works with any major carrier, BUY IT ! ... show more

  • Great price on an outstanding phone for under $300
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
This phone is rated #3 for the top phones on the CNET networks reviews for the top android phones under $300 for a good reason. No, it's not because it's the fastest or maybe not even because it has only mediocre 3 lens camera ( compared to those phones with 5 or 6). But where it really shines is in its battery life. The phone is as advertised. At 64gb of onboard storage and an expandable memory card slot, it is very capable of everyday multitasking. And with the octocore processing power it is fast. It does take decent pics for your photo albums of choice. The screen is of good quality and comes with a decent screen protector and standard, but unimpressive, phone case/covering provided with the package. I do recommend a different case as well as a different screen protector. It should be noted that most, if not all, screen protectors won't totally cover the screen due to design. Truly the battery life is its highest selling point. The 3 day battery life advertisement is somewhat misleading, it is capable of 3 days without a charge as long as it's casual being used. However, with heavy usage on wifi or cellular broadband use it will last approximately 12-15 hrs of nonstop use- which is outstanding for me. As I write this review I've been downloading a large file, uploading my pics to the cloud, taking and making calls, using messenger and the phone message app, as well as running a malware and virus scan in the background simultaneously. I might add at the time of this review my phone is at 47% battery life. It started at 100% at 5 am cst and it is now approx 7pm cst. I have been running this gauntlet of uses nonstop since 2 pm cst with light usage up till then. Any average battery phone would have already died out and been on charge. I am very satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend this phone to anyone in need of a serious upgrade without spending serious cash for it! My only complaint is that it lacks wireless charging, though does use usb c type charging and gets a full charge from 1% to 100% in about 1.5 hrs! Absolutely amazing phone for the money!!! Highly recommended!!! ... show more

  • Fantastic Phone
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
I've had this phone for a month now, switching over a Galaxy S7. Even after having the battery replaced in the S7, I was charging it 2-3 times per day. It was quiet annoying, and I couldn't go anywhere without bringing a battery pack. I picked up this phone with the Tracfone rebate deal, so my total cost was about $100. For that price, it's absolutely fantastic. Battery life: amazing. A solid 2 days without an issue, even with fairly heavy usage. No problems with the operating system draining the battery. It's possible to get 3 days, but the battery would be in the single digits by the early evening. Size: in a case, it's pretty big. Most of my cargo pockets, I can't close them with this phone and it will fall out if I sit down. It also wouldn't fit in an armband for jogging; but it's too heavy anyways. Operating System: love it; there's little to no bloatware. Outside of the annoying gestures tutorial that pops up every reboot, I appreciate not having a phone loaded with Samsung and Verizon apps that can't be removed. Camera: meh. I'm not really sure why it has 3 cameras, as the pictures aren't all that great. About on par with the S7. I have a DSLR for real photography. Fingerprint Scanner: same as the S7. Doesn't work if your finger is wet, sometimes it just refuses to read altogether. Facial recognition would be nice but it's fine for the price point. Wireless Charging: about the only thing I miss from the S7; it was nice to drop it on a charger and not have to plug anything in. However, the battery lasts so long I'm fine with not having it. Verizon: no issues with snapping in the SIM and having connectivity immediately. No calls, no activation. Verizon won't let you use SMS over wifi or wifi calling, which is annoying, but this applies to all unlocked phones. Conclusion: overall, the price paid is insane. 1/12th the price of a "flagship" phone with 95% of the features. ... show more

  • Very solid features and performance at a great price point
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
I've been using this phone every day for a couple weeks now and have been thoroughly impressed with how competently it performs at such an inexpensive price point (got it on sale for $180). I was previously using a Samsung Galaxy S10. Is it as nice as the S10? Of course not, but even a used S10 will cost twice the price of this phone, and a new S20 would be near 4x the price. I've tried out cheap Android phones in the past by Blue, Huawei, and ASUS in the past, and this is the best one I've seen so far. Obviously there are some compromises with the features -- no NFC, no wireless charging, no (certified) water resistance -- but those are all things I had with the S10 that I never used or cared about. On the other hand, it offers features that are very hard to find these days -- large battery, headphone jack, microSD card slot, physical fingerprint sensor on the back (I found the S10's in-screen fingerprint sensor to be very frustrating). The display is a 6.4" LCD (not an OLED like the S10), and it's not quite as crisp as the S10, but it's still plenty good. General phone performance is good, though it sometimes lags a bit when switching apps, but not annoyingly so. The camera is solid, though it also suffers some noticeable lag. The overall image quality is pretty good for a phone in this price range (much better than the Blu and ASUS phones I've tried around this price), but it won't be confused with a high end phone (but again, for that you'd be paying 3-4x as much). Battery life is terrific, WAY better than the S10. While I'm not sure I could get the "3 days" claimed, it easily lasts a full day with heavy use, or a couple days with moderate use. Why people are complaining about it not lasting 3 full days is beyond me -- why would someone be unable to charge more often than once every 3 days? Are they taking week-long camping trips with no ability to bring a portable charger? Shrug. I plan on keeping this at least a year until the 5g phone market matures. For this price, it's a no-brainer. ... show more

  • Best Battery Life EVER
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
I bought this phone for my Mother. She's always out running around and her old phone just couldn't keep up. She also is constantly taking video and pictures of my little Nephew. Her old phone would commonly be out of juice before the event she was documenting was finished, such as a trip to the Zoo etc. She'd often text me and inform me she was turning off her phone to conserve power. I thought this was unacceptable, she might need her phone for an important incoming call, or need to make an emergency outgoing call and with a dead battery this was a risk. So I set out to find a phone that could keep up with her. I found this Moto G Power and after watching many many reviews I decided to try it out. It was on sale during Prime Day so I couldn't pass up the deal, plus the return policy is always awesome so no real risk. This phone was way better than I excepted for the price. I myself always buy the Flagship level phones, and this one has made me think twice about spending all that money. This budget level phone is very impressive, it runs Android 10 currently, is a 2020 model, and the battery life is amazing. I gave it to my Mother and she was blown away, first that I spent the money on her, and later because of how long the battery lasted. I suggested to her that she let the battery drain down from 100% to see how long it would last to ensure it was as good as advertised. Well we were more than impressed. She texted me daily and gave me the battery percentage and it incredible. The phone went an entire week, 7 days, and it was still at 36%. Her old phone would die before the end of a single day. Now I will note that she didn't do a lot of videos and Picture that week, but used it for text messaging and some phone calls. She indicated that her old phone wouldn't even make it a full day with that lite use. Even my iPhone, doesn't get more than 2 days with lite use and it has a new battery. The phone is also snappy and more than enough for the typical phone user, even the camera took wonderful photos and video. It has so many features for the price, I thought they sent the wrong phone. LOL Anyways, this phone is great if you want battery life. The only down side is that is a little heavy because of the large battery. If you don't care about getting the flagship or are on a budget, then this phone is for you. It also might be good for a first phone for a responsible child. Its not the cheapest phone, but its a good mix of budget cost, and still a great looking phone. ... show more

  • A great phone, great battery life, super price!
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
I bought my first Motorola G power 8 years ago and am still using it. Never needed another phone, everything worked just the way I wanted, even better than my wife's high end phone, especially the battery life. Then I mistakenly thought the battery was dying and, of course, bought another Moto G power. Turns out I was wrong, the battery is still fine so I have a new one which I probably will have to leave to my daughter in my will, still in the box. What a great phone! ... show more

  • Great value, not-so-great design choices
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
Pros: -Long battery life They aren't kidding when they say this phone can last 3 days on a single charge, but that doesn't necessarily account for heavy/continuous use cases. If all I do is text and call, the battery will definitely last 3 days and then some, but if I connect a bluetooth device, have a constant VPN connection, and watch full HD video all day, it usually lasts me ~2 days from a full charge. This is still very good efficiency in my opinion. -Fast charger included Always a good thing, especially since certain flagship phones don't even come with a standard charger these days. -Works well on Google Fi While I do have some qualms about Fi's service, primarily that I keep getting assigned to Sprint's slow towers even though other carriers near me have better reception, I can't say that I've missed a single call or text yet. Setting it up was very quick and easy. -Cheap price This phone is a great value for its price point, as it has many features of current flagship phones at a fraction of the price. Cons: -VERY slippery in the hands. The plastic backplate/bezels on this phone make it near impossible to hold at times. If your hand is even remotely wet, good luck picking this phone up. If you've put lotion on your hands, forget about picking this phone up for a few minutes, because it'll drop right out of your hand like soap in the shower. Don't even think about putting this phone on your leg while you're sitting, either; it will immediately slide right off if you move even a millimeter. -Low build quality This should be expected due to the price, however, any small drop of the phone will usually leave a dent in the plastic siding, due to it being so heavy because of the large battery. I would say a protective phone case is a must, and I will be getting one soon for mine. -Front camera is under the display If you have OCD, this phone may not be for you. In most applications the front-facing camera is obscured by the Android status bar, but watching videos/other forms of content can be a bit annoying, depending on the aspect ratio of what you're looking at. I've personally gotten used to it over time, but it definitely drove me mad at first. -Side bezels are a bit small While I enjoy the extra screen room from having small bezels, it makes handling the phone somewhat awkward. I often end up accidentally pressing on the screen while holding the phone horizontally, as my fingers overlap the sides and touch the edges of the screen. Overall, if you're in need of a phone on the cheap end, and you often forget to plug yours in before going to bed, this phone is a lifesaver. It may not be the quickest, the most durable, or have the best camera, but it definitely holds its own when compared to other devices around this price point. If you have crippling OCD or you need NFC functionality, though, I'd look somewhere else. ... show more
