In fact, when I went to AT&T’s official website to look up the IMEI in an effort to unlock it, I got the error message, “Looks like the IMEI number you entered doesn’t match an AT&T device.” I needed this as a back up phone for a trip I have coming in less than one week now I have to try and find another one and hope it arrives in time. Took a while for it to start up. By that I mean charging was off and my apps were trying to go through and it was laggy. But now on day 2 it is working awesomely. Great for a cheap renewed phone. I use this on wifi so I can't talk to call quality.

Got this for my son, who does not have phone service, he uses it on the wifi at home and a magic jack app. He said that it was pretty straightforward to set up but it has a whole lot of nonsense preloaded on it. It took him a while to get it the way he wanted it and he is now satisfied with it. He did say that the camera is rather crappy though.     • I was warned... not unlocked
The description said it was unlocked. It also said it would work with AT&T. Neither is true. I tried to get AT&T to unlock it, but the came back to say it wasn't a device they know about. I then discovered it was locked with Dish Wireless. I didn't waste a minute trying to get to those people. I returned it. I think the lesson is to not buy an Amazon renewed phone, unless you're feeling real lucky. ... show more
