Can't say much for professional use, but they work great for the DIYer who needs to make some dents better! It still takes a lot of skill and experience to get dents out 100%, but I was happy with 80%.

So lets start with they work. I have now pushed out a pretty good dent in the side of my truck with them, and I'd say it's 90-95 percent better. It's still there, but you have to catch the light right to see it, or run your hand over it to feel it. It takes force, it takes time. It also takes a little skill, and with more practice I'm sure I'll get better at it. Glad am I that I have watched others do this. The rods can bend, and since you need to use some force, you'll likely bow them a bit, as I did. You'll need something to push against. I chose blocks of wood, so I don't dent or chip the paint of what I'm levering against. Tricky trying to figure out exactly where the rod end is pushing against! It's also important to understand that "bumping" works better than just prying and forcing. If for no other reason than cracking paint and creating new dents that bump outwards. The S hooks, beware of them! They are not finished and will cut paint of you try to use them as provided. You need to dress them with a file. I still probably wouldn't use them on any visible surface. The wedge tool is bigger than I expected, and works a treat. ... show more

THE DELIVERY BOX WAS DAMAGED AND OPENNED. THE APRTS LOOKED LIKE SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO TAKE ONE OF THE RODS. THE RETAINING BANDS WERE CUT. THE HAMMER WAS DIS ASSEMBLIED AND OUT OF THE BAG AS WELL AS THE TAPPER TOOL. ODD !!! THE INSIDE OF THE BLACK BAG HAD NO BUBBLE/ ETC. PROTECTION OF ITEM. ACTUALLY THIS IS THE WORST DELIVERY OF ALL THE ITEMS I HAVE PURCHASED IN YEARS. THE CARING OF THE PRODUCT WAS MISSING. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THE BOX. I'm really torn about these. This is a nice set of tools but they may go back. Here's why. First, I really needed a few whale tales for what I need to do. In the description, they describe these as "PROFESSIONAL: Newest professional stainless steel Whale Tails", but there is not a single whale tale in the set. There are a few flats and many rounded heads, but no whale tales. Second, in one of the pictures, they show the tap down tool with many different heads. That is not what you get, you get just the one head. These tools may do the job for someone- they are of good quality and seem durable- but they are not as described and not exactly what I needed which is a bit of a disappointment. ... show more

These do work. But I have one complaint. All tools have about the same horizontal "reach". My door panels have quite a bit of space between the glass and the panel, and I had to bend a couple of these rods to reach the dent. But once I did that they worked fine.

PRO's: + I received the order in good condition; the rods were wrapped extremely well - albeit a bit awkwardly by hand. + Generally, the products are of good quality match description. + The stainless is clean, unmarred or contaminated. + The handles are reasonably thickly dipped. + Good support documentation + Good value for the price. WISHED: / I would like to have see the kit include various slip on tips - versus metal-on-metal-only. / I would prefer a heavier gauge wire. The rods are .250" and .375" - which I find a little too flexible for my taste but adequate. With a correctly positioned leverage point using the included chain - or other jig - they'll suffice for small to medium dents. CONs: None ... show more

Like the title says, I have no real idea how to use these. I just watched some YouTube videos and went to town. These rods seemed to work fine for what I needed. My dent was easy to access. Only thing I can say is that they are not too long, so just be aware of that. But if like me, just wanting to fix a couple dents, then these should work. ... show more

    • Good quality rods with a fatal flaw

Rods are good quality, thick and well made. Very large, great assortment of sizes. Rubber coated handles are good quality, carrying bag is nice. BUT...the rod ends don’t have tips, they are raw, flat metal with sharp edges. Thus even using light pressure it badly creases the panel you’re working on. If the rod ends had rubber tips it would apply much gentler - but still concentrated - pressure. I should have bought a professional set, or any other set that has tipped rods. These are pretty much worthless to me, as good quality as they are. Perhaps I can find some add-on tips. ... show more

I got these to get a dent out of my trunk lid. For me they worked great. I'm sure a more expensive "professional " set is better, but for me they worked great. They had enough leverage to do what I needed them to. I would suggest watching a few youtube videos to give yourself an idea of how to properly use these before you start.
