  • MOOG K9802-Ball Joint replacement for 2000 Honda CIvic Si- I would recommend this part for your car too!
5 stars- Moog is quality Brand though the rubber boot comes as color black which is perfectly fine it functions well. Comes pre greased ready to install. Special tools required but easy to acquire for the DIY Home Mechanic..You must be a little bit mechanically inclined in order to remove and install them correctly but I promise you it's not rocket science. The removal and install went well with the free loaner tools I borrowed from my local parts store. To remove and Install I took advantage of Autozone com Free Loaner-Rental Tools Program using tools #27023 & #27164 for Honda/Acura. Search the net for balljoint replacement using the tools mentioned and you'll find a few writes ups with pictures if you get stuck. Please note that you must pay a deposit for these tools at the store mentioned above but using the free loaner rental tools program I was able to complete the job in under a few hours by myself and you can return the tools within 90 days and they return the deposit. I guess you basically buy the tools but they offer a refund when you return them within 90 days because these tools are included in their free loaner tool program. I used a car jack and stand, ball joint seperator from Harbor Freight #99849, rubber mallet, some moly grease, 14mm, 17mm, 10mm, 1 1/4", flat head screw driver, needle nose pliers, and the huge c clamp and adapters mentioned above in the parts kits #27023 & #27164 from autozone, and lastly, snap ring pliers for the new circlip on each new ball joint. All in all I would not hesitate to purchase these items again for another vehicle if needed. I only thought I needed one part because the drivers side had a huge tear in the old boot but I decided to order two of these parts because of the great price! After changing the first one I decided to change the second one located on the passenger side considering how easy the first was to remove and install. I realized the old ball joint on the passenger side was actually worse in movement when compared to the drivers side which just had the torn boot. I would suggest that you just buy two of these parts for your car and go ahead and simply change both the left and the right sides while you are at it that way you know your ball joints will be good-to-go for a long time and if you use the tools I mentioned above for a honda or acura or if you don't have honda or acura you won't need the #27164 kit. Either way your removal and install using these simple tools should go very smoothly. Good Luck with your purchase decision! ... show more

  • Be sure to replace the cotter pin.
2 out of 3 times, the upper circlip (the one near the retaining ring after installation or close to the steering knuckle), punctured the rubber boot. Once, while taking off/repositioning the retaining ring, and the 2nd, while installing with the C-Clamp ball joint press kit (likely warped). I've used Shoe-goo as a temporary fix (super glue may work). The point is, the cir-clip this ball joint comes with is of a different design from the oem, strong and thicker (not like key ring), and doesn't really stay where it's supposed. Now I've resorted to buying cheaper ball joint of a similar design in boot, to place on these. If these ball joint studs are still stiff after 1 year, I may upgrade the score to 4 stars. If you have mechanic install these for you, then make sure you ask to inspect the boot after installation. Steering wheel no longer shakes at highway speed after installing this. The one I removed (same model/torn boot) to re-install with a new unit, after a week/300 miles of driving, was stiff, which is good. Update: Within a thousand miles or so, the castle nut ate through the cotter pin supplied with this ball joint as it's too thin. Be sure to get a cotter that is 3/32" thick and between 1-1/4" to 1-3/8" long. 7/64" thick cotter pin may fit, 1/8" will not. Update: I've had these ball joints for almost a year, and I'm quite impressed. On one side, I accidentally ran over a dead deer at 80mph, 5 months after installation. On the other side, I came across 5" deep pothole that slightly distorted my alloy wheel rim, 7 months after installation. Both ball joints are still "stiff", when I move them from left to right, indicating they are safe to use for the time being.. 2 year update: The rubber boots are hold up well indeed, and are not torn. ... show more

  • Quality Ball Joint and at a great price!
Great Ball Joint and at a great price! Only thing is make sure to check for pin holes in the grommets because the first set that was sent out did. Seller was great sent new ones out and a return shipping label for the defective ones.

  • Beware generic boxes
The 1st time I ordered this for my 97 civic it was perfect, a genuine moog ball joint, the second time it was a knock off, it still works but if you are going to use the brand name you should deliver it. - 2 stars for the knock off the second time.

  • Damaged on arrival....saw after pressing into knuckle
I recommend whoever purchases this product to check the boot for any cuts or tears. When I pressed this into my knuckles vehicle I did so at nights and thinking confidently that the product being new was sound and did not check. I was wrong. The next day when placing the knuckle the lower control arm all blue grease came out covering my hand and falling to the ground and let me tell you this stopped me from moving my car for a week and to take it out I had to hammer it out but when checking before taking it out there was a horizontal cut on the boot of this ball joint. After I hammer out the ball joint from the knuckle I checked quickly to see if the knuckle had any sharp edge or rust sticking out where the ball joint goes in but did not find anything. Also noting the cut was horizontal and since it was pressed any cut should of been vertical. Long story short check the boot for any tears as this comes sealed and I order another ball joint from 1a Auto and once that arrived pressed in again and placed onto knuckle and no issues. Totally disappointed on this thinking the brand would mean high quality and had my vehicle on a jack tower for a week because of this set back. ... show more
