  • MONTBLANC but Not the Same MONTBLANC
Color: Pacific Blue Size: Medium
Well, I finally ran out of refills for my “ROLLERBALL” pen. I was shocked to see that the refills are not of the same construction or quality as the originals that can were provided at the time the pen was purchased. As soon as I unpacked the new refills I noticed that the cartridge body thinner, the end protective caps different and less secure, and most disturbing of all that the threaded ends is plastic rather than metal. I did check the official MONTBLANC website, and the new refills do appear to be genuine; same different construction. The new refills do seem to function O.K. and the plastic threads will standup to use (unless, maybe, you swap colors/thicknesses often), but just knowing that another premier company has instituted “cost cutting” is irritating. I guess Rolls will be using vinyl seat covers soon. [As a note regarding my MONTBLANC pens/pencils, they were all purchased decades from a reputable store decades ago prior to the ‘markings’ incorporated in 1990 (?) to help defeat counterfeiting. Thus, my writing implements will not pass the ‘authenticity test’, will be deemed ‘suspicious’ . . . and unsaleable! And, even if I had retained the bills of sale, they, of course, could be counterfeited also.] ... show more

  • Horrible!
Color: Pacific Blue Size: Medium
I think these cartridges are bootleg refills. They have ink blobs that regularly come out. There are times when no ink will come out as you're writing. And this is my second/replacement package from Amazon. The first box only contained one cartridge, and there should have been two. I have used Mont Blanc pens for years and the quality of their ink has always been A+. I just can't imagine that these refills came from them. ... show more

  • Not As Smooth
Color: Pacific Blue Size: Medium
I've had Mont Blanc pens for about 20 years ever since I tried one out and felt the smooth almost like butter feel of writing with them. I've bought many refills over the years which also were smooth. I put the pens away when I retired some years ago, but decided to start using them again recently. After reading the one star reviews as well as the four and five star reviews, I figured that there is bound to be imperfections in manufacturing. I received my refills today and tried them out on different paper ranging from very expensive to cheap. I am disappointed that they do not have the smooth feel that I know. The feel is a bit rough as though the rollerball was not ground properly. Based on what I paid for the five pens as well as these refills, I expect high quality refills that Mont Blanc was famous for years ago. ... show more

  • Looks Genuine But Doubtful
Color: Pacific Blue Size: Medium
I bought these rollerball refills and one lasted a month and the 2nd, about 6 months, both of light use. Moreover, even from the beginning, they did not write smoothly. I then purchased refills from the Mont Blanc store in NYC which of course are genuine. There is a noticeable difference. The ones I purchased from the Mont Blanc store write smoothly. The real ones are $18.50 plus tax. The ones purchased through Amazon are less expensive but are in fact less valuable since they just don't write properly nor do they last (should last about 60 to 80 pages per refill, according to Mont Blanc). If you don't live near a Mont Blanc store, you can buy the genuine refills through the online store. Yes, the refills are expensive but the point of using a Mont Blanc pen is the extravagant pleasure of using a beautifully crafted writing instrument. Otherwise, we can always use a $1 pen readily available anywhere. From now on, I will only buy refills directly from Mont Blanc. ... show more

  • Is it better than Bic or Skilcraft??? It has to be, It's a Montblanc...refill. Right?
Color: Mystery Black Size: M
Why do I have such a ridiculously expensive pen? What is possibly wrong with a disposable pen? Why are the refills as pricey as they are...for a ball point pen? Sorry, "rollerball" pen...Why is the sky blue? Why is the refill not called midnight black? I have no idea...because it's MontBlanc?...99.9% of the time, it works like a plain old pen...so far, it doesn't leak, or blob, or smear. But Oh! that 0.1%...with my rollerball Montblanc refill, I write better - of course - but i also used the pen as a spear tip when i was lost in the Amazon, made a plumb bob for checking level at the Pyramids of Giza, re-enacted the Texaco-Pennzoil 'contract on a napkin' scenario, got the autograph of a guy who claimed to know the owner of a gas station where the neighbor of a B-list celebrity bought a box of tic-tacs (they could not recall the name of the celebrity)...but i guessed it was probably Kate Beckinsale's stunt double. I bought the black...and it wasn't blue...it was more melancholy I suppose. I don't know why. Guess that's why it's called Mystery Black. ... show more

  • Easy to modify with just a pocket knife or hobby ...
Color: Barbados Blue Size: M
Purchased for G2 hack. Easy to modify with just a pocket knife or hobby blade, five seconds and you're good. So much better than G2 ink. The roller is slightly scratchy vs a gel pen but still a very nice experience. And that INK. The Barbados Blue practically glows, the color is so bold and vibrant. Even the standard blue just looks better on a page than a regular blue pen. Anyone who says this doesn't write as smoothly as a bic needs a new hand. Also fast drying, doesn't run or bleed as easily as G2/gel inks. Rarely skips or fades out and I write a LOT at my job in a given day. The colors in the description on amazon are WRONG, order based on color in product name NOT color picker in description or you'll get the wrong item. Ordered for Fortune Green and got Barbados Blue. The blue is nice tho so no complaints ... show more

Color: Pacific Blue Size: Medium
I've been buying these refills for over 12 years and the last two packages has contained only one workable refill. I don't believe the fault lies with the store but with Mont Blanc and their quality control process. I'll be notifying MB directly as well.

  • Mont Blanc ain't what they used to be...
Mont blanc is a shell of its former glory. As a prof. who uses his pen daily, I have to say the mont blanc ink is a lot worse than a basic bic or the classic parker jotter. I keep using it because I like the look of the mont blanc but if I am doing more than marking attendance in my class, I reach for the parker jotter. This isn't a review of the pens I am mentioning but the ink that comes out of them. Last, these mont blanc refills last about 3 months max with daily light use (i.e. for you teachers out there, I am not using a mont blanc pen for grading). ... show more
