While it may seem like an excessive accessory amongst all the others that golfers get lost in, this actually has proved to be extremely simple and useful immediately. I like the compact size and bag can fit into a side zipper on my regular golf bag. As I primarily use it on the grass range so far, it literally is just connecting the spine to the extension rod and pulling it out to the desired height. It's extremely stable as long as you get it straight level and it's surprisingly not distracting even with other golfers milling about.

- magnet test = Greatyyt and Gpod were very close but iRange was very weak. - stab test = NOTHING BEATS A SPIKE, iRange and Greatyyt were close, Gpod was tough to stab in harder grass. - base test = Gpod has a VERY High end base that doesn’t require anything to be removed, the other do just fine but you have to remove a hand twist spike when using a base. - Easiest to use = the Greatyyt you just pull to set the height of the rod, no twisting. iRange and Gpod both have to twist and Gpod if definitely the hardest because it has 2 different twists required. -price = Greatyyt $69 / iRange $110 / GPod $159 - Overall = if you want something that’s easy to stab in the ground, easy to adjust, compact, great magnet, and good price Greatyyt.

I’ve had different tripods over the years and this is the most versatile! When closed, it’s very compact and light allowing easy storage in my golf bag without taking too much space or adding any significant weight. This was very important to me because I walk a lot and carry my golf bag. The material seems to be a strong metal. The different attachments are easily interchangeable. The magnetic pad is strong enough to hold my phone with no problem. The clamp is a good option if your phone isn’t MagSafe. Switching between the tripod legs and the monopod stake is just as easy. Having both options is great so you can use it on mats or in turf. I’ve used this tripod during many rounds of golf and for multiple practice sessions and it is exactly what I needed.

Worth every penny. Definitely recommend paring this with a mag safe case. The tripod is awesome for recording golf content and the being able to switch to the spike on those extra windy days comes In so clutch.

First Impressions of GreatYYT Monopod and Tripod Selfie Stick to Record Golf Swing - Multi Functional Phone Holder with Magnetic and Phone Holder - Golf Training Aid - Compatible with All iPhone Android Phone ⭐⭐⭐⭐4-stars ✅ Solid sturdy precision construction ✅ Near universal ¼”-20 threading used for everything ✅ Interchangeable parts with other ¼-20 mounting gear ✅ Very compact and lightweight ✅ Adequately strong magnet mount ✅ Various mounting gear ✅ High quality product ❌ Many parts and pieces contained by a drawstring bag - not integrated single unit (minus 1-star) ❌ Price is reasonable but will narrow the range of users ❌ 2024 - this is not a selfie stick IMO; it is more of a specialty monopod Let’s first go over how this product works and is designed. When I unpacked this product, I thought there were parts missing. Why? The telescopic main piece is of such small diameter, it was hard to believe that that was all there was to it. The main tube has four telescoping sections that once completely extended, makes the tube 4 feet in length. On the top end, there is a male ¼”--20 post; on the bottom end, is a female ¼”-20 receptor. Just in case, FYI, ¼”-20 means 1/4" diameter-- 20 threads per inch. This is the same size that many tripods, cameras, and light mounting hardware already use. Using this mounting systems makes great sense – as this is to be used for photography purposes AND this also allows the flexibility to mix and match this product with other photographic mounting hardware easily. To add more clarity, this monopod could be used for binoculars, monoculars, traditional SLR cameras (small ones), cold shoe flash mounts and other photographic accessories; while the included mounts for smartphone, the magnet, and Go Pro mount could be used on other tripods/monopods. The expandable legs or ground spike just screw into the bottom of the main tube via ¼-20. The camera mounts also just screw in to the top of the main tube via ¼-20. This is a sorta-kinda unique product designed to take videos out on the golf course. Does this product accomplish the mission? Yes it can. The reason that this is well-suited for golf course videos has a lot to do with the sharp ground spike. Sometimes the golf course is not level which could create difficulties for a traditional monopod with legs to stay balanced and sturdy. I can see why the designers chose to engineer this product with removable legs/spike versus a folding or retractable design. If the ground is hard or requires a great deal of force for the spike to penetrate, a hinge or retracting mechanism could break or be inherently weaker. This product comes with an oversized basic velvety drawstring bag to carry the stick and its parts. This is where the problems unravel. If I have to unpack this stick and put it together every time I want to use it (which may be each stroke during each of the 9 or 18-holes), I will grow tired of taking it apart. If I don’t take this apart, then I will have a long stick with a sharp spike or leg attachment to carry around. Even without the leg/spike, the main tube will not fit in the bag with the camera mount head installed – therefore the bag becomes a burden. I wish that instead of the bag, a clip or strap system with a screw on cap to protect the spike tip was implemented. I’m not going to go into details about hypotheticals but the current design CAN BE greatly improved. In the not so far past, this could have been considered a selfie stick. But now in 2024, I think this kit is missing the shutter trigger – so we are left with either buying our own remote shutter trigger or going back to old school “10 second timer – say cheeeeeese”. As a Vine Voice, I have reviewed over a dozen selfie sticks, and the common element is having a remote Bluetooth shutter trigger. This would have been so easy and inexpensive to address at the factory, yet, I am not sure why it wasn’t. If I were to make a guess, the primary concept of this product was to film golf swings – calling this a “selfie stick” was probably something that was added in hindsight by the marketing department. This is a very lightweight camera mount. I have carried many a tripod, monopod, and selfie stick in my day. I first attended photography school for the Army in 1992, over 3 decades ago, long before digital photography was a common reality. I have to give it to the engineers to make this a minimalist design. There are trade-offs between weight, sturdiness, and cost. The only way to make this lighter without sacrificing sturdiness, is probably to use carbon fiber. I’m not sure exactly how this is going to fit into my life – but this certainly is a well-made product that might get modified or cannibalized by me but definitely not trashed or given away! If over long term use, my feelings change about this product, I will update this review. Thanks for reading and hope this helps.
