Came well-packaged, with no damage or missing parts whatsoever. The color is true to the image, a nice wood-grain grey. My photo makes it look a bit warmer because it has both natural light from the window and the glow of my electric fireplace in the photo, so you will see some variance depending on your room's lighting, of course. It's not real wood, and anyone with any sort of experience with pressed wood product versus natural wood will be able to tell immediately, but looks and feels significantly more solid than most similar products and doesn't have any peeling/uneven finish/warping as can be common with pressed wood products. It does not give you that "ugh, obviously cheap" feel that so many pressed wood products can, if you know what I mean? There's no shiny/almost plastic-y finish here. It was extremely easy to put together, took me maybe 45 minutes on my own, and will probably be much faster for someone without a working memory disorder like myself! The instructions were clear and concise, all parts were labeled, and everything fit together snugly and easily. It is extremely solid and easy to move, there was no creaking, it's very stable. I think this would be able to survive several moves as long as you weren't extra rough with it or anything; it seems much more solid than my Ikea desk, for example. I am very impressed. I prefer actual wood furniture when possible, but we all know that in this price range that requires a lot of luck, and weathered grey stain real wood furniture seems rare. I will be purchasing more from the Monarch Dark Taupe collection for my bedroom once I narrow it down to which piece I want! EDIT 7/27/2023: Almost six years and two moves later, I'm still impressed. No warping or peeling of the wood, no wobbly connections. It survived some careless movers that managed to permanently mess up my office chair & destroy the back of a cheaper standalone shelving unit, so doubly impressed that this console table didn't take any damage. I have two other pieces of Monarch furniture that show the same resiliency. Assuming their quality level hasn't changed, I would not hesitate to order more furniture from them in the future.

Perfect purchase for what I needed

I needed to make some adjustments to my front room and needed a new higher TV stand than the one I already had. I looked at quite a few TV stands and this one came across in a few searches so I went ahead and got it. It actually arrived a day before the due date. When it arrived the delivery person said the box had came open as he was bring it to me door. There was no damaged to the part though. It was easy to assemble for me. After getting it together my concern was, will my 55" TV fit (with tv legs attached) without falling off. Good thing I purchased the small mount. It fit perfectly in the space I have it set up at. Everything I had on the old stand fit with no issues and even room to spare. Great addition to the home. Really sexy look for the room.

A little surprised by how much I enjoy our new television stand. Monarch is, quite frankly, hit or miss in terms of quality. It's why I took so long to finally bite the bullet and just buy the thing even though the stand has been sitting on my wishlist for a ridiculous amount of time now (I've been hurt before). That said, I will say you get what you paid for. The stand is sturdy, functional and looks attractive enough... but please don't be the type to fool yourself into thinking your friends and family will mistake this for real wood. Each of the boards has a thin veneer which can be scratched easily if you are not careful. So be sure to assemble this in an area with consideration to scratching risks. It looks nice, but it will only fool the most deluded soul into thinking it's real wood. Still, extremely happy with our purchase. The stand blends well into our mix of modern and rustic furnishings and is large enough to carry my behemoth of an HTPC among everything else.

Beautiful, holds my 42in tv and accessories. Does not look like my grandmother's tv stand. Its definitely more dark grey than brown, which is what I was hoping for. Easy to put together, the one problem was one of the dowels wouldn't go in enough and when I put the back piece on it put a hole through the thin piece of composite wood, not a huge problem because it's in the back of the unit which faces the wall. This piece of wood was the only piece that was the thin "cheap" wood, the shelves and sides were much more sturdy, have a nice weight and feel to them. The drawer slides nicely, and the whole thing doesn't wobble even when my very large cat jumps up on it. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

First of all, this delivered DAYS faster than projected. Literally 2 days and it arrived. I was shocked to see it show up so fast. 2. The packaging is loaded with styrofoam panels to protect the wooden pieces so prepare to either remove the pieces outside, or prep for a cleanup after assembly. Very well packaged though. 3. I had a power drill so the process was much easier. I recommend anyone use it. Package does NOT come with screwdrivers. But it has all of the screws needed for assembly. Standard Phillips (+) screwdriver/drill bit is all that's needed. 4. Overall assembly took about maybe an hour. But I did it alone. If you have help, it may go quicker. Instruction book doesn't have written instructions. It's pictures. The wooden pieces are numbered and you have to follow along the images. Not bad. 5. The back vertical panel is really good for hiding the cables. I thought it would work from the pics, it REALLY works in person! 6. In the end...WOW. Just an absolute aesthetically-pleasing modern & contemporary piece for any living space. I was initially drawn to this because of its unique and abstract design and am blown away and FULLY satisfied with this purchase. 10/10
