  • Really looks exactly like real chrome.
Size: 30 ML Style: Refill, 30ml
Way better than I expected. Saw this on the Old Car Alley podcast on YouTube. He used it for some chrome pieces on his car. I’m going to use it for the armrest bases on my car. I tried it on a small chrome part with a chip and you can’t tell where the chip was! Pretty amazing!

  • Molotow liquid chrome paint marker, 2mm
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: 2mm
I have to say this paint marker is way beyond what I expected. I'm using it on model car kits where the seams need to be smoothed and glue joints. As with a paint marker, you need to shake it well before using. Then, depress the tip just until you see the paint flowing down. The part you are painting must be perfect before applying. All imperfections will show. Touch the marker to the part to be painted and let the paint flow. Do not depress the tip as the paint flows easily and depressing the tip will make the paint pool up. When the paint gets on the surface it has a metal-flake look to it but it quickly evens out and the metal-flake look disappears and transforms into a mirror-like finish. With it being paint, it needs to dry. Even after one day of drying, if the area is touched, it appeared to dull the shine a bit. I would assemble the parts first if possible then apply the chrome paint. Maybe a coat of Pledge high-gloss floor polish will "lock in" the shine. This paint has a much better shine than Bare Metal Foil. I used it on large areas like valve covers, show rod headers and other parts that were loose so I didn't have to worry about the paint flowing onto an area I didn't want. For small areas such as 1/24 or 1/25 trim, maybe a real steady hand and 1mm marker would work best. This is by far the best chrome replacement I've used. A bit pricey but worth the cost for an outstanding finish. It is acrylic so it cleans up with water, not thinner. UPDATE 10/16/2018: After using this paint marker to touch up chrome on one kit, the Monogram Boot Hill Express, in one day, apparently the marker has gone empty or dry, I don't know which. I didn't have that many parts to touch up and no large surfaces. One note, once you paint an area and it starts to dry, avoid touching that area again with the marker as it will damage it. Also, when using this marker paint the complete area that needs to be. If you paint an area, stop, and come back later to finish, you will see the difference in the overlap of the paint. I am still impressed with the final look of the painted parts but not with how long it lasts. Maybe I got one that was only 1/2 full, I don't know. For me, at a price of $11.00 each, it is too expensive for the amount of coverage and I probably won't buy it again. ... show more

  • Works great! Affordable solution to restoring "chrome look" to small plastic toys
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: 1mm
This will get your toys looking ALMOST as good as new. If you don't want to work with expensive, dangerous chemicals, this is so far your best bet that I've found for small chrome style projects... I bought this pen after careful research and looking for ages for an affordable solution to restoring "silver chrome" surfaces to old toys (in this case, some heavily worn vintage Kenner "R2-D2" Star Wars figures). As many others online have suggested, after covering a generous surface of the plastic toy, I left it untouched on a shelf in the open air for 1 week (actually 8 days) before handling. It retained its shiny, mirror-reflective surface (far superior to the mere "silver" spray paint, acrylic paint and paint markers out there that don't look like chrome). It's not 100% perfect, the actual aluminum coating on "chrome toys" is somewhat shinier and brighter and I expect has a harder coat, being bonded directly to the plastic in most cases. I took the advice of others in working quickly, not touching the clean & dried surface while working, and not applying a second coat while it was drying. Over 1 week later, I can touch it (with clean hands) and it doesn't immediately dull as others have indicated happens if you touch it before 1 week. Overall it works pretty well. I would recommend though that the surface underneath should be as clean and paint-free as possible before you begin. I had previously painted one of these figures myself and while the reflective "chrome" coat looks beautiful, you can see the imperfections from my earlier brush strokes underneath. Now I only wish there were other versions of this, say in GOLD (then I could touch up C3PO!). I see others have tried "mixing" this chrome pen with acrylic paints to get other colors but the results have all been dull, in which case you might as well just use some gold acrylic paint, as you immediately lose the chrome effect. I have not tried applying a clear coat, as I'm told most clear coats dull the chrome effect. Update: I have had it recommended to me to use "Liquitex professional high gloss varnish" as a clear coat AFTER the liquid chrome has completely cured. I acquired a jar of this varnish (it was quite expensive, $18 for an 8 oz bottle at my local Hobby Lobby store) but have not yet attempted to see how it looks. The bottle says it is "permanent" so I will probably test it on a piece of plastic scrap at some point and post results, which of course will take more than a week to complete! ... show more

  • Awesome, but....
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: 4mm
Works well. I used It to restore some Chrome edges on plastic transistor radios. It looked pretty good, but this pen did not last very long and went "dry" after a few uses.
