  • Great notebook
Pattern Name: Plain Style: Hard Cover Color: Black
Lots of pages, and nice to write on. My fountain pens don't bleed through that badly; you can see in the photo that the pages are thin and you can see what's written behind it, but the bleed through is manageable.

  • Ink bleeds through pages
Pattern Name: Dotted Style: Soft Cover Color: Black
While I love Moleskine journals, it is very difficult to find writing instruments that don’t bleed through the paper. I have found two very fine tipped pens that work. So writing is color is probably not going to happen.

  • Amazingly sturdy
Pattern Name: Dotted Style: Hard Cover Color: Black
The first one of these I bought has been in use as a writing/art journal for a couple of years now and is very near to the end. I happen to like this paper and use it for writing, pasting things onto, applying paint to, testing markers, etc., and it takes everything I throw at it, even it means covering a page with gesso or gluing two pages together to hide a bleed. I remove the elastic since it stretches out in no time as the book gets bulkier, but I make my own canvas-with-velcro strap that I can pull as tight as I need to, and that adds to its character. The spine on this book is phenomenal, and still in perfect shape, despite how thick it is now. My next blank one is in the wings, waiting for its turn. ... show more

  • Love!!!!!
Pattern Name: Dotted Style: Soft Cover Color: Black
I seriously can not recommend this journal enough!! I researched for months and eventually landed on this one! The paper is soo soft! There is ghosting and certain mediums will bleed through (not a huge issue for me since I’m documenting my life). The elastic band is sturdy and great quality it doesn’t over stretch and become useless which is an issue I’ve had in the past! I love the soft cover it allowed room for the journal to thicken up and to open up without becoming disfigured! Highly highly highly recommend! If you’re thinking about getting it just do it you won’t regret it!! ... show more

  • Moleskine tried and true, it's a classic!
Pattern Name: Plain Style: Soft Cover Color: Red
Moleskine has been in my life for as long as I can remember. I recall seeing the books used by the adults when I was growing up and then I was able to have them when I grew up! This is the first time having the expanded as I just discovered this is fairly new to the line. It looks like an adventure of many thoughts, and scribbles, etc., will have a happy place with so many pages to fill. Complaints that may come up about paper not being "friendly" to this or that type of ink or pen well the Moleskine tells you specifically what works best for each of their books, if you wish to try it anyways for experimentation then the liability falls on the user. ... show more

  • Fountain pens and highlighters bleed through
Pattern Name: Dotted Style: Hard Cover Color: Black
It's beautiful, sturdy, and simple. It has a ton of pages—400! It's bound like a good hardcover book. If you use pencil, ballpoint, or other dry media, you'll love the paper. If you use fountain pen, markers, or other wet media, you won't. Sadly, I've started using fountain pens, and bleed-through is a problem. It's the 70gsm paper. It ghosts (which I don't mind so much) and bleeds (which I do.) As a small consolation, it doesn't feather that I've noticed. ALL the classic Moleskine journals use this paper. There may have been a change in manufacturing that caused a quality drop, but unless you go to their Art journal line, you're going to get 70gsm. I've used Moleskines since 2014, and they've had the same thin ghosting paper, except for the time I bought a dotted sketchbook. What's annoying is that they advertise these as suitable for fountain pens. Not. Now I know what all the fountain pen users are complaining about. So I have the journal, and because I unwrapped it, I'll switch back to ballpoint until it's full. But I'll say that a rival brand that begins with 'L' has 80gsm paper, which is just enough thicker that I can use a fountain pen without it bleeding. Pity that company doesn't make huge 400 page journals though. ... show more

  • BuJo for the whole year in one book!
Pattern Name: Dotted Style: Hard Cover Color: Black
I started a BuJo in November 2020 (in a Walmart Exceed dot journal) to track all sorts of things and see if I liked it. Well, I decided I did like it and realized that I was going to run out of room quickly. So I went looking for something with enough pages to get me through the year of tracking and other things I wanted to jot down. I don’t doodle or dress it up with fancy stickers or drawings. I just keep it simple and track things, appointments, notes, ideas, etc. I don’t like my journal cluttered. I like my info easy to see. I keep a lot of information in this and I’m finding it’s such a useful tool keeping it all in one place. This was the one. It’s simple and clean looking and I prefer the size over larger or wider journals. Yes, the pages are a little thinner and there is some ghosting, but I don’t care. It’s a trade I’m willing to make to have one journal going the entire year rather than setting up multiple journals through the year and then having to keep track of all of them after I begin another. I’m someone who tracks and looks back frequently so I want everything in one place. If I finish the year and want to continue I will definitely be getting another. I use Pilot Frixion pens, markers and highlighters as well as Sharpie pens in black. I hope this review was helpful! ... show more
