They are wool but so so soft and not scratchy at all. The socks are thick and cushy, but thin enough to wear with shoes comfortably. They keep my feet very warm without causing any sweat. The fit is perfect. Not too tight around the ankles and they stay put, they don’t shift and bunch up. The colors are very nice as well. Comfortable, warm, not too thick or thin... just right! Easy to wash, but you can wear them several times before needed. Perfect for travel, hiking or hanging around the house in winter. I ended up getting two sets... mixed tan/blue/grey and package of black only. Worth every penny!

The TRUTH IS I doubted these could be machine washable and dried without severe shrinkage, but I was PLEASANTLY PLEASED that not only did they turn out perfectly, they were just as soft and warm as the first time worn. FIVE PAIRS of warm merino socks for such a reasonable price?? YES!! I'll take that and highly recommend the socks. They are cozy, stretchy, but fitting. Can't ask for anything more! UPDATE! They are soft, comfortable, and love how they keep my feet warm all day. The downside is that they can slip off after some time of walking which is annoying because I have to keep pulling them up. Also, after I have washed them they kind of lost there smooth texture.

These black socks are a perfect everyday weight, not too thick (I can wear them with shoes) and not too thin (they keep my feet warm in my muck boots). These socks were the most comfortable they are very soft and they wash well and they keep your feet warm and your feet do not sweat in them and they’re not tight on your legs. They go halfway up your shin little ways and they’re a good value. They’re a keeper for me.
