These check stops were exactly what I needed. I was getting hot water in my cold water line and traced it back to this Moen shower valve assembly. Something to be aware of if you are going to change these out is that these check-stops are two pieces each. The back half comes out with some needle nose plyers but the deep half requires something more. You can probably use a long standard screwdriver like a chisel and a hammer to destroy it and then fish it out but you'd have to be careful not to score the brass valve barrel it seats in. Instead I used a 12mm bearing puller. I then cleaned up the check stop valve barrels with a hone tool to prepare it for the new check-stops. I used some clear silicone on the new check-stop o-rings during insertion to help it seat all the way into the barrel without much trouble. ... show more
