  • A very decent helmet for its price.
Color: Matte Black Size: Large
Wanted to try out a modular helmet but didn't want to pay bleeding amount of money for one while still wanting to get a semi nice helmet and not absolutely trash of a helmet. Came across this Auboa helmet, with DOT, FMVSS certified. And also including some very good features so I want to give it a try. Also for head size/shape reference , I have a slightly round head, the RevZilla people called this intermediate oval. normally I wear HJC and Shoei (Large) fit me the best. And this helmet (large) fit without an issue. Since this is a modular helmet it is slightly heavier than a simple full face helmet. I did some research this modular helmet is relatively in line with other mid range modular helmet on the market. Took it out for a couple of days of commute. That hit 70 mph on the highway with the wind ,against the wind. This Hellman feel pretty stable, did not have any weird buffering. And it's relatively quiet. Personally I would still recommend a riding gear plug. But if you keep it under 60 mph the wind noise is actually okay. I got the Hellman doing winter months, road around 40° F weather, because you can close the air vents on the top and in the front so my head felt quite warm/normal, I didn't feel the need to add anything to keep my head warm.lol. I do wear glasses and I am able to slide my glasses in while wearing this helmet so that's a bonus. The longest I have this helmet on is about an hour did not have any pressure point , hotspot, or uncomfortable fit. The padding/liner are in power with my other helmets. You cannot beat the functionality of a modular helmet as it provide safety off of full face helmet convenience of open face when you need it except slightly heavier weight. I'm glad I found this helmet and it had made my commute more enjoyable as I can flip it open during stops or if I need to talk to someone. The drop-down visor is wonderful because I tend to right towards the sun on the way home, it allows me to safely see the world ahead of me with flip off of switch, one thing I will add is the position of the flip switch is great it love the opening for me to install my Bluetooth com system unlike some other brands that made it almost impossible to install your own Bluetooth device. So kudos to Auboa. I'm glad I found this helmet as it is a pretty nice helmet but didn't break my bank, therefore I feel like I got a good product that should last me a long time. ... show more

  • features!
Color: Matte Black Size: Medium
this is a feature-rich helmet at a great price. there are definitely some cost-cutting measures but overall, this is an impressive helmet. the biggest issue is safety: although this helmet is DOT-rated, the compression layer isn't very beefy and although I do believe this helmet would pass a DOT test, I think it would do so just barely. if you're okay with the minimum in protection though, there's a lot to like. this is a street-style modular helmet. the hinge is plasticky and stiff but works fine and holds the chinbar firmly in place at several different detents. the locking mechanism is old-school steel pins but the tolerances are good and they work great. it opens with a red tab at the chin that feels durable but plasticky, and there is a small cutout behind it that makes it easier to use with gloves, a nice touch. the visor is ordinary but not thinner than name-brand helmets and its hinge feels nicer than the modular hinge. the visor has a number of solid detents. there is a lever for the flip-down sunshade. the action is again a bit plasticky but doesn't feel like it will break. there are no detents. the sunshade is a bit darker than I'm used to so I wouldn't use it in the evenings but it's great in daylight. neither the visor nor the shade have any unusual distortion. the padding is a real treat! it feels very nice with good quality foam. fit is excellent on my M and it feels like somewhere between round and intermediate oval. the feel is similar to a good quality ~300 dollar helmet, but isn't as plush as high-end models. it's fairly easy to remove and there are spaces for speakers. under the visor is a breath guard that works okay and a wind block under the chin that reduces noise and wind. sound it rough. this is a noisy helmet. wind noise overall was just louder than other helmets, I think from the thinner protection layer and the shape of the helmet. despite the wind block, I got a fair amount of wind from the chin. there are vents on the top of the helmet but overall airflow was a little too excellent. this is not a stuffy helmet! considering you can get ece 22.06 helmets in the 150 dollar range from brands like scorpion and ls2, I would absolutely recommend spending the extra cash. you only get one brain. that said, if you don't care about the safety, the comfort and features of this helmet are excellent and present a very good value. ... show more

  • Great helmet for this price range, fits me well, everything works as it should.
Color: White Size: Large
This is a nice helmet for the low $80 price tag. It has plush padding that is very comfortable, and the shape fits my head, which is a little on the oval side, very well. The flip up modular front piece is easy to operate, and it securely holds its position when raised. The clear visor has no distortion, and is easy to raise and lower, and the inner flip down sun visor, which is very dark, is easy to flip up or down with a small lever on the left side of the helmet body. This flows air quite well, but it is a little noisier than some helmets at highway speed, not uncomfortable noisier, just noticeable. There is also a fast release chin strap buckle, which is a good safety feature in case of an accident, and just generally more convenient to use than D-rings. I think that if this is the price range you need to stay in, this is an excellent buy. Is it as good as a $300+ helmet? No, but if you need a helmet at a low price this is an excellent choice. ... show more

  • Ok, but I wouldn't trust it to protect me
Color: Matte Black Size: X-Large
I currently wear an HJC modular in the XL size. My head is more oval than round. This helmet in XL is super big and loose. I would have to go down a full size, at least. It looks quite nice from the outside. The padding around the neck and the chin guard is nice and on the plush side, for a budget helmet. The rest of the inner padding in thin. The modular portion of the helmet opens and closes easily. It does lock firmly into place. BUT, it feels like cheap plastic and I would not have any faith in it what so ever. The helmet has manual vents on the mouth and 2 on the head. But, oddly, there are no exhaust vents. The wieght is ok for a modular. The color and aesthetics are also very nice. The internal drop down visor works, if you are a fan of those. Overall, it looks very nice, but I wouldn't trust it with my safety. ... show more
