Description

Why the need for a Dryerbox? In the past, homeowners had to put up with the inefficient venting of their dryer appliance exhaust due to numerous friction causing bends or kinks in the flex transition hose that connects the dryer to the wall exhaust pipe. Lint build-up and a fire hazard are the unwelcome bi- products of these annoying bends. In order to accommodate these flow restrictive bends, the dryer appliance had to be located five to six inches away from the wall, taking away valuable living space. The Dryerbox solves these issues and provides many benefits to the builder, the contractor and the homeowner. Dryerbox receptacles can work in new construction or existing construction as a retrofit. Likewise, there are versions that accommodate new- construction (studs with no drywall yet) and Retro-Fit versions (drywall on the studs). Please study the images and specifications carefully in making your decision, noting the location of the mounting flange and the direction of exhaust airflow. The Model 350 favors an upward exhaust direction in new construction and is designed to accommodate installations that require a shallower stud bay or additional space behind the Dryerbox. This model's depth from the nailing flange to the rear is 3 1/2" and will fit in a 2 X 4 stud bay. It is important to note that the seamed Snaplock pipe becomes "ovalized" when drywall is secured to the studs. To handle this compressed stated, model 350s feature an oval port. This makes attaching transition hose a little more challenging but represents the compromise in supporting the unusual depth circumstances. For standard upward new construction installations, (2 X 6 studs or 2 X 4 studs with 1" furring strips) the Model 480 or Model 425 are recommended providing more space and a round port opening.

  • A space-saving, in-wall dryer vent box
Style: Up Venting in New 2x4 Wall
If you're building a house or doing a remodel and want a well made, sturdy way to vent your dryer thru the wall while saving 4" of depth to your dryer footprint, this is the way to go! Our laundry room is not huge, so saving the extra 4" behind our dryer is kindof a big deal. There are lots of plastic boxes which work like this one but most are plastic and seem a little flimsy. This one however, is metal and sturdy, really adding to the quality of our build. It arrived promptly (several days sooner than Amazon estimated), so big props for that, and it arrived in excellent condition. Conclusion: If you're building or remodeling, this is a very good quality unit for routing your dryer vent thru the wall, while saving valuable space in the process. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Keeps dryer close to wall
Style: Up Venting in New 2x6 Wall
I have used these multiple times for laundry rooms. Not only does it allow an easy clean install. It allows you to put dryer really close to wall if you mount it where dryer vent comes out of back of wall.

  • High Quality, Rigid dryer box
Style: Up Venting in New 2x6 Wall
This product is durable: the heavy gauge aluminum is rigid. Other products made from plastics that I handled at Home Depot made me search to find this online. And I am glad I used it- when attaching the dryer vent ducting, mudding around the box, and pushing the washer and dryer back against the wall after installing them, having something that was mechanically sound attached to the studs of my wall was clutch. It recesses the dryer vent hose well and kept it from kinking when I pushed my stackable washer and dryer back in my narrow closet. I have about 5-7" of space behind the stackable units, and the hose has enough space to function properly. It's a bit expensive, but it's money well spent. Any other vent box built of weaker materials could have broken during the final install, or when I ducted the rigid vent ducting when I did the rough in. ... show more

  • Good wall mount dryer duct for new construction
Style: Up Venting in New 2x4 Wall
Durable, was able to use for downward duct, didn’t come with hose adapter so you need to find a some other options. Well built!

  • 2x4 wall retrofit takes a little work but works well
Style: Up Venting in New 2x6 Wall
Very Sturdy construction. I retrofit into a 2x4 wall. It was a bit tricky, no fault to the product, just retrofitting this takes a little work. First, it requires about 2 1/4" of the duct to penetrate into the box to leave room to attach the flex hose to the dryer. The new installs show this being mounted with the base in contact with the floor. In order to retrofit this, you need to cut the duct a little higher up to have enough clearance to get the box into place. I chose to minimize the impact to the drywall by tracing the profile of the back of the box and oversizing about 1/4" so the flange would sit on the outside of the drywall. If you hold the box on the floor like you would for a new construction install, you need to cut the duct flush with the top of the opening. This allows clearance for the box to be fit into the wall. Once the box is into the wall, you need to cut the drywall about 2 1/4" higher to make room for the duct to penetrate the top of the box. Using a prybar on the base of the box, I was able to lift it into place around the existing duct while using a flathead screw driver to wedge and deform the duct to fit the hole. This leaves you with the right penetration (~2 1/4") of the duct and a minimal size hole in the wall. This is where you see the value of the box being so sturdy. Now...what to do with the 2 1/4" gap at the bottom...fortunately, this is a standard window/door trim size. Cut a piece of that, a little caulk and you are in business. I used a 4" grinder with a cutoff wheel to cut the duct and a ball pin hammer to re-shape the portion of the duct that penetrated the box since it takes a little muscle and deformation to get it into the opening. The flange sits nicely over the existing 1/2" drywall. Not the best finish look but since it is so low and behind the dryer, you'll never see it. I painted it white and caulked the duct penetration into the box with fire caulk. ... show more

  • Good quality and simple install
Style: Retro-Install in Existing 2x6 Wall
Our house didn't have on of these when we moved in and our dryer had to stick out a few inches in front of the washer. Our laundry room isn't very big, so it was tight to get into the dryer this way. This dryer box was pretty simple to install, the only issue I had was getting a good cut on the pipe in the wall - but if you have a Dremel it would be much easier. It also comes with a guide to get the dryer pipe into it, which took some time, but overall not too hard. The best part is that we can now push the dryer back and have more space in the room. I would definitely recommend, especially if your hose out of the dryer gets squished against the wall. ... show more

  • Dryerbox allows you to slide your dryer back enough to close your laundry closet doors!
Style: Retro-Install in Existing 2x6 Wall
Our dryer wouldn't fit into the laundry closet because the vent duct hose had to lay on the floor behind the dryer. The dryer couldn't be slid back enough to close the doors to the laundry closet. I was looking for a solution, and found the dryerbox. What an awesome product! It took a little work, and some planning, but it turned out great! The box I bought is for ducting that runs up into the wall, but my duct came from the floor and was too far in the corner to work with any of the dryerboxes "as-is", so I had to improvise. I turned the dryerbox sideways and it worked perfect! I did have to cut 2 wall studs and patch the hole where the duct used to poke out through the wall, but it was worth the effort. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out! Thanks Dryerbox! I wish I would've taken pictures before and during the project, but I didn't. Anyway, if you're looking for a few more inches, this is your answer!! ... show more
