  • This, plus some screening makes a great lint filter
Okay, it's a $15 dryer filter. It has holes, few instructions, and depending on the humidity and your dryer and a lot of other factors it's awesome or sucks. I threw $15 at it because I live in a small, unvented studio apartment and everything I own is covered in lint or dust because until now, it all just blew out and around the apartment. The spiders love it, but me? Not so much. I got it yesterday and put it together in a few minutes. Once you figure out how to snap it together and get it aligned right, it's easy and will get easier each time you do it. In the photos, I tried to show the unboxing and what comes in the box. Some people say it's "tiny" or "small" but I am quite pleased with the size. Like Goldilocks, I'd say this is "just right." From reading other people's reviews and seeing the unit I knew the water in the bottom of this would be a mess. I own a shop vac. I know what water + lint looks like. Looking for a non-water option, I went down to my local ACE Hardware store where I spend sinful amounts of money every month and they GAVE me a yard of flexible screening. I cut it into rectangles, then ovals, and used Gorilla Glue to fasten the screening over every hole. It took me about an hour because I'm old and slow and the Gorilla Glue was a PIA to work with. (PIA = PAIN IN THE A**). I got out my new impact driver, took the back off of the dryer to make sure I wasn't drilling into anything important and attached the holder to the side of the dryer. For now, where the dryer is, that was my best option. I did some sort of stupid funky celebration that installation went without a hitch and the holder is rock solid and I didn't drill into any live electrical thing inside the dryer. (Just kidding. I looked and unplugged it before drilling). There's a photo of the back of my dryer - proof I checked first. So, now it's ready to go and I hope it works. I checked with an empty dryer running and the air flow is good, so there shouldn't be a problem. Tiny tiny tiny dust will get through it I'm sure, but if it does, I've decided to just stick one of my Shop-vac filters up in there. I can make a cap shaped filter with that with more glue, or sew it even. PROS: It's cheap. It's well made It's lightweight It's easy to put together It's easy to install You can improve or adapt it in a variety of ways. It's not so expensive that you'll regret screwing it up. It works to reduce lint and dust - although how much is up to you. The tubing is good and stretches well although it'd put a strain on it to get it four full feet. CONS You have to adapt or improve it if you really want to eliminate the maximum amount of lint and dust. It works as is right out of the box, but if you want ALL lint and dust gone, you're going to have to get creative and find your inner engineer. I am a redneck. Fixing things with duct tape and stuff is in my DNA. Even outdoor vented dryers blow dust and lint around the dryer, but I enjoy a challenge. If you don't, don't buy this. It's a lint filter. Add water and lint and you have a mess. It takes time to improve or adapt it. I could have been lying in bed eating bon-bon's and painting my toenails instead of gluing screening to this thing. But, it SHOULD last. There are NO screws that come with it. You'd think that for the price two .19 screws could have been included, but no. You have to find your own. The screws are used to hold the support to whatever - wall, dryer, etc. I am a woodworker so I own enough random screws to get me through a zombie apocalypse so I didn't sweat that so much, but if you don't own a drill and random screws, or at least a screwdriver it might be a PIA. Summary, as I figure this will improve my current situation, which is a plus. And, for what I paid for it, plus a bottle of Gorilla Glue, and an hour of my time, it's not bad. It's a completed project. Your own milage may vary. ... show more

  • One of the greatest inventions since the wheel.
Nothing to dislike about the item. I just got done trying it out. It was awesome. All you do is fill the bottom part about half way with tap water. As you use it you will have to check the level of water in it. I hung it on my wall above dryer. It's so convenient and easy to use. It keeps the lint from flying all over the place. Just keep it full of water. No problem. ... show more

  • The 4-inch by 5-foot ProFlex duct is incredibly durable and reliable.
I've been using it for a couple of years now. The 4-Inch by 5-Foot ProFlex Duct helps reduce lint build-up in the dryer and keeps my clothes looking fresh. Easy to install, the kit is easy to install and has been working very well. The vent ducting is also very flexible, which makes it easier to route around tight corners. All in all, this dryer vent kit is definitely worth the investment ... show more

  • Just ok
This is fine for what it does. Just with the lip was different material because the hose slips off the box because it’s a slippery material. Even with the zip tie it comes with, I couldn’t get it tight enough to keep snug!

  • Works well but you need to know a few things.
After reading some of the reviews I figured I would take the time to say a few things.... First off... The reason dryer moisture is vented outside the house is because the designers knew too much moisture in the house can cause mold and health issues. That being said I can only recommend this product as winter use only when the humidity is low to start with. Here is a few thoughts. 1. As others has mentioned this is not really a filter per say. It's simply a small bucket that has water on the bottom of the unit. You add in the water yourself. The thoughts are that the lint will hit the water and get suspended and out will come semi clean hot air from the drier. I would caution that the moisture from the clothes will be dispelled into the room in a good amount. You can solve this issue by turning on your furnace fan to recirculate the air around the house if you have a vent in your laundry room. Or... Just get a small clip on fan and push the moist air out of the room. I use the furnace fan option and have no issues. 2. It will not catch all the lint. You will have to dust a bit more in that room. My purpose for this small unit is to add moisture in the house in the winter as it gets really dry down where I live. Additionally if you stop to think about it. All the air you are blowing outside the house is also leaking into the house in the same amount. Go outside and feel how hard the air comes out of the vent. That same amount of air has to be pulled into the house so you are actually sucking out the heat you paid to make in the colder months and raising your bills. In winter we have a heat pump that struggles in the winter to heat the house. I decided to plug the outside hole from Nov to Feb and use that heat from the dryer I paid for to help warm the house instead of waste it outside. You have to find the balance with this product. We noticed some laundry soaps when vented in the house caused us to get head aches. Obviously you need to be aware of this. We bought a more natural soap and the issue went away. You figure it cant be too bad because you are putting the clothes on your body but you really need to be aware of what you are doing. All in all after a bit of trial and error we have a nice balance of adding moisture to the house as well as stopping heat loss. Plus its nice to know the house is getting the benefit of the dryer heating the house in winter a bit. One might ask. Am I that cheap I am worried about dryer vent heat? Overall no. What I have done over the ten years I have lived in this house is look around at things I can do better. As an example.. Install a clothes line in your basement and hang jeans and things you really don't need to dry. Turn down the hot water heater to the lowest setting that you can tolerate showering. No reason to store extra heat your not using. Radiant barrier in the attic. Deflects heat back into the roof not your attic. Solar powered attic fan. Works like a charm and the sun powers it. House is all LED light bulbs. Amazing difference in the power bill if you change them all. ( Save your old bulbs you take out and take them with when you move. LED bulbs last 10 years or more supposedly ) Install on off electric eyes on out door lights. Now we don't have to forget to turn off security lights in the daytime. All these things together have chopped over $30 to $40 off my bill and I always have the lowest electric bill of my neighbors. That's over $400.00 bucks a year I can spend on buying other things on amazon. :) Anyhow you will have to be the judge on this product. The price is fine. It is a bit hard to snap the two parts of the bucket together at first but I think as time goes on it will be easier. Good luck. ... show more

  • Great for panda portable dryer
This works great as an indoor dryer for my panda. We returned it because it was way cheaper at Menards (the one at Menards is pictured same thing as the one we got on Amazon). Great invention. The humidity is fine if you have the ac on during the summer or warmer months. If it’s off it gets really hot. Also we live in a 374sqft apartment so I could probably be fine a larger home. During the winter (our winters is snowy) it feels great ac on or off. Just add water when it gets low or else clothes will not dry. My man installed it and it was easy when watching a YouTube video on how to install. ... show more
