They are definitely blackout. They are soft and beautiful. I bought 3 packs so 6 panels total. The length is perfect. I steamed out the wrinkles. My only complaint was that the 3rd pack was in a different packaging triggering me to ask for a replacement because I was concerned it was used or the wrong item. I love these curtains so much that I have them in my living room and dining room in navy (does not appear to be available any longer). I bought the burnt orange for my master bedroom and plan to replace the curtains in two other rooms. That will mean my entire house will only have MIULEE curtains by the end of the year. Not only are they blackout but I"'m convinced that they help with the temperature in the home. Since I replaced the master bedroom curtains, it's so much warmer in there, which is great since we have frigid temperatures outside. Also, the 90" length is very difficult to find elsewhere.
