This is a basic set with a couple of minor shortcomings and one big flaw. The miter box is lightweight and has no mechanism for holding the wood in place (for materials that are narrower than the box), and some slots are a little big, which means the saw can slip and make a messy cut. There's also not a good way to clamp the miter box to your workbench to keep it from sliding while you saw. The saw is good. The blades are sharp out of the box, and they give good versaility for the types of materials and cuts you might need to make. I found the blade too short to make easy 45-degree cuts on wider or thicker material, though. I was hoping to make professional-looking picture frames with the set, and I haven't been satisfied with my results tbh. It might be a skill issue, but a longer saw and better stability from the box would make my projects easier and I suspect more successful. At time of review, this miter saw set was listed at just under eighteen dollars. I'm not sure if that is a good value or not; it likely depends on the specific needs of your project. ... show more

    • Small but handy set
This miter box and saw set is a useful tool for small woodworking projects, trim cuts, and hobby work. The lightweight design makes it easy to move around and store when not in use. The bright yellow color makes it easy to find among the mess of the job. The included Japanese pull saw was the highlight for me. It cuts surprisingly cleanly and requires little effort. I recently used it to do some trim work and was pleasantly surprised at how virtually effortless it was to cut through the chair rail. The cut quality was better than I expected for a set in this price range. Changing the blades was super easy, all it takes is push the button to release the blade and simply insert the next blade. The miter box helps guide straight and angled cuts, though it's best suited for small stock due to its size. It would've been helpful if there were a way to hold the wood in place while cutting. I don't know if that is something that is customary with this type of tool since this is my first time using anything like this. It was a huge help for my DIY projects, and installing the molding in my office. It was easy to use and delivers clean, accurate cuts. It's a solid starter option for anyone who doesn't need a full-sized miter saw. ... show more
