I’m using this product in my classroom to house a class set of calculators. They have enough space in the pockets to hold Casio fx-9750GII Graphing Calculators and with a class set (25-30) the hooks support the weight on my bulletin board. The students exchange their phones for a calculator and the pouches fit their phones also. The numbers are great cause I can easily take note from across the room which student has placed it in the pocket so I can give bonus points. I would definitely recommend this product to hold phones or calculators in your classroom. The hardest thing about the product is getting the students to buy in to your classroom procedures. I needed to come up with a better solution to keep cell phone problems out of my classroom and this pocket chart did just that. The students can not have access to their cell phones during any of my classes so many of them were piling them up on my desk before class. That drove me crazy because I was worried about them falling onto the floor and they kept getting in my way. Other students would sneak their phones into the classroom and keep them in their pockets or pencil bags. So I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone: stop the cell phone problem and help my students keep their batteries charged! This pocket chart is VERY strong and durable. It also holds ALL sizes of phones in and out of cases with room to spare. I’d recommend these charts to anyone! My students LOVE their new charging stations! :) ... show more

Great way for my students to stash their phones during tests. I put it up using the clips at the top of my whiteboards. The clips it came with were a bit long for the depth of the board. I was worried they wouldn't stay, so I bolstered them with the clips already there. Not too big and easy to call out the numbers for phone returns. I use this in my high school classroom to hold cell phones. I have the class list, and put numbers beside each name that correspond to the pocket I have designated for them. I post it next to the holder so students know which pocket is theirs. I have a copy I keep on my desk, so I can check the holder as I'm sitting there. Same quality as the other material numbered ones. Pay extra if you’re going to use the vinyl sleeve pockets to move labels often. Would be great for checking items in and handing the label as a receipt or as I’m going do use for daily chore cards, since it does include the seventh row (one for each day of the week) ... show more

I am a high school teacher who learned this idea from a fellow teacher: Each student in every class has an assigned number. At the beginning of class, they place their phone in their slot. Some time during class, I check off on my cell phone sheet that they have detached from their phone this day. An accumulation of 80% (16 of 20) earns them a drop of their lowest grade. Not surprisingly, they are more focused and grades are less of the issue for class work when they are separated from their phones. Multiple issues that encompass a full article: what about theft, what about using phones for classwork (research eg), what about students who do not have a phone or who already have the maturity to leave it in their locker . . . You must fit this to your own classroom and other teachers have other ways to deal with it. I am finding that especially for younger high schoolers without the self-discipline, this teaches them that they can live without their phone for 90 minutes. A valuable lesson! ... show more

I bought this to keep track of calculators in my classroom, but it's evolved into so much more. Each pocket has a dollar store calculator that my students can "rent" by trading in their cellphones for the duration. That policy has so far helped prevent even a single calculator from growing legs and walking away (I lost 25 in 2015 that way). This year, I added a new policy that students can leave their phones in the pockets all class and if they do that for 80% or more of class days I will drop their lowest in-class score (usually a lab). I numbered all of the desks so they just put their phones in the matching pockets and it's easy to quickly mark down which phones have been turned in that day. I also added a power strip to make it a charging station which serves as an extra incentive. It's working out so well, I'll never go back! ... show more
