    • Can be difficult to put on, but they fit well

The elastic doesn't leave enough flex at the top of the shows to slip these on easily. It's a bit of a struggle to get them on every single time. I even cut out the plastic piece to make them looser and it's still difficult. Once they are on, they fit great. In fact, they are actually a little large for the size. They have great grip in wet conditions and can be used in water (though they must be thoroughly dried afterward.) When cleaned, I had no issues with just hanging them to dry. Other shoes will not fully dry when hung up and get stinky. These do not. All in all, I like them. I just wish the elastic tie was longer, thought that is something that can be replaced. ... show more

My littlest one needed appropriate shoes for hiking and was starting his first adventure with us. He was used to regular sneakers and we noticed on regular wood trails that he was having a hard time so we decided to get him his first hiking boots to tackle a small mountain we planned on climbing. The grip is great and provides stability. The colors are awesome for a young boy and after a long hike he was still comfortable in the shoes. He was a bit sore but it felt better to him and was ready to go again. I would probably suggest having the kids wear the shoes around a bit before a long hike though to break in the shoe. I bought these shoes for me son, who is hard on shoes. Plays hards, outside for hours a day and very active 7yo. He started wearing these as his main shoes in December and now it's April and they're hanging on by a thread. One shoe all the pleather has ripped across the toes, though the under layer hasn't torn through yet, which is the only thing holding them together. If we can get a good 8-9 months out of shoes that's usually about when they're outgrown, but unfortunately these might not make 5 months. But if your kid isn't as hard on shoes then these have some nice features. I appreciate the zero drop and wide sole for a more barefoot style. The tread starts out pretty aggressive (though my son had worn much of it down) and the generous velcro strap sizes means it would handle high volume feet and sinch down comfortably for lower volume feet like my son (his are wide but low volume). If the price point was just a bit lower I'd be happy even with the longevity issues and I'll keep an eye on sales but not worth it for us at full price. ... show more
