A fabulous retelling of the fair Snow White’s tale, Mirror Mirror tells the story of the princess Snow and her step-mother the Queen. The Queen Clementianna (played by Julia Roberts) is an evil and frivolous ruler, who taxes her kingdom’s people to the point of starvation to pay for her luxury parties and bizarre beauty treatments. She keeps Snow (Lily Collins) locked away in her room in the castle. When Snow becomes a threat to her place as ruler, the Queen decides to do away with the young princess for good. Things don’t go quite as she planned however, and Snow winds up in the cottage of the thieving band of Dwarves, Butcher, Napoleon, Chuck(les), Grimm (yes, as in Will Grimm), Wolf, Grub, & Half-Pint-- the new and improved Seven Dwarves. Mirror Mirror is a great remake. Princess Snow is a strong female lead who can be tough and kick butt while still maintaining her beautiful, feminine charm at the same time. The Dwarves are hilarious and colorful characters, and the storyline is different and fresh while still including many things we know and love about the original Snow White.     • This is a satire, folks!
So many people seem to think of this as a literal Snow White fairy tale interpretation. It's not. This film is a satire. The film makes a satirical stab at the tried-and-true fairy tale tropes and has lot of fun doing it. It's all there: the beautiful princess, and evil queen, a prince in search of true love, magical allies and terrifying obstacles. The valiant prince is turned into the damsel in distress, the evil queen has both wit and malice, the princess is clever and full of pluck, and the industrious dwarves are now bandits. Lily Collins plays a plucky princess with a kind heart while Armie Hammer pokes fun at the roles of the stoic and brave prince one sees in fairy tales played straight. This is not a candified and sanitized fairy tale (many REAL fairy tales are actually quite gruesome) but a spoof of fairy tales in general. The whole of this film is the eye candy of the costumes, the last creations of the late Eiko Ishioka, and the fun sight gags with the twists and turns fo the characters.     • Not worth it
I always think Julia Roberts does a great job, but my kids and I weren’t really entertained by this film at all. My biggest problem is that it’s labeled as a dvd with digital copy and it does not have a valid digital code. It has a older code that fox used to use but -after contacting the seller and being directed to contact costumer service for the dvd manufacturer itself- I’ve found out that the digital code with this movie is not honored any longer by the studio. So if you want to buy it to stream, it won’t work and the purchase isn’t honored and exchanged for the newer digital copy codes. ... show more

    • NO Digital Copy with Disc anymore!!
I personally like this twist of Snow White. However I purchased the actual Blu-Ray because I wanted both the disc and digital copy. The digital copy does not work, it’s one where you have to insert the disc into your computer and download it that way. I tried that, however I received an error message. I messaged 20th century fox who said it was “expired” even though it does NOT have an expire date on it. Some DVDs do, however this one does not. I think 20th century should be required to honor the digital copy since it does not have a date, however I highly doubt they will. ... show more

    • Campy and silly at times - Like other versions better.
Fun movie to watch, although not so great overall in my opinion... I don't regret the purchase. I like the campy humor. I'm a fan of Nathan Lane and Julia Roberts. The actor that plays the Prince is quite handsome. There's some pretty funny lines around him and Robert's Character Some hilarious scenes with the 7 dwarfs. Just eh... A remake of Snow White that I really liked - although different from the typical version also.     • Good for adults and kids.
It’s rare that we find a movie that all 6 of us like, we range in age in our home from 6 to 50. So this was a hit. It’s got some parts I could do without, like the queen trying to off Snow White, not cool, but the original had that as well. I don’t recommend for toddlers, but elementary age up, it’s a good find for the family. ... show more
