    • The PERFECT portable hotspot/wi-fi adapter!
I don't normally write reviews, but I had to make an exception for this one. This little adapter is just absolutely PERFECT for my needs! I have an old clunky mobile hotspot, which still works.... but is very bulky to keep carrying around. I bought a laptop about a year ago and it *looked* like it had cellular capability because I saw a SIM slot on the side. Well, it turns out it's just part of the case, but it's not functional. So after about a year of still dealing with my clunker, I started researching USB LTE network adapters. This one had mixed reviews, but I decided to take a chance anyway. I'm SO glad I did! My SIM is nano sized, so I had to use an adapter (just be mindful)! I had ordered an additional data-only SIM (the intention was to keep the clunker as a backup). However, I couldn't activate the new SIM in this device. That's not the fault of the device though, that's a purposeful limitation from my cellular provider. I thought 'where there's a will, there's a way'. So I took the working SIM out of my clunker, put it into this adapter and voila! It worked immediately! The configuration/admin interface is so slick and offers a LOT more features than I expected. For instance, if your SIM allows for texts, there's an address book and SMS/Text option from the administration setting. It almost feels like a portable router. I'm blown away and SUPER impressed with everything it has to offer. It really is plug-and-play. I even tested using it from a portable battery and again, instant access! Again, I just caution you to make sure you have a SIM adapter (if your SIM isn't already the largest size). Other than that, make sure you either have an previously activated SIM or make sure you have the ability to activate it through another method (if your provider is grumpy like mine).     • Great deal on an LTE dongle!
With the 25% off deal currently running, this is a great price for a device that does double-duty as both a dongle and a WiFi access point. I have a few different hotspot devices, but they're all bulky because of the included battery (and some won't work as just a USB modem without the battery inside: very annoying!). This design gives extra flexibility: you can plug it in directly to a computer as a standard USB Ethernet device (tested on Debian 13, easy plug-and-play on Linux), or you can give it USB power from a battery pack or a wall adapter and it will run as a WiFi hotspot without a host computer. No LTE configuration was necessary: I inserted my T-Mobile SIM and the UF1 detected the network configuration automatically. ... show more
