The size is perfect for a reloading bench but the drill doesn't have enough power to roll a shotshell. No matter the speed it just won't power through at all. Basic drilling in light wood should be fine.

This is simple drill that is good for the hobbyist. It is quick to setup, but if you are not mechanically inclined you may need some help. Couple screws I needed were at the bottom of the box, not in the plastic bag of supplies. The arm piece screws in at an angle. The depth stopper needs to be slid away from the machine. Everything needs a little bit of back and forth exercise to self lubricate when starting out. Speed control works well. I haven’t had it long so cannot attest to its durability. But it has some personality and I like the color. So far I’m happy with the purchase. Just expect a two door Chevy not a Mercedez. Not too heavy to move around. Cord is short. ... show more

First off, this arrived like a week earlier than expected. Second, it’s much more stable than I expected for the price — I assumed I’d have to bolt the stand down but it’s plenty heavy enough to support itself, and most of the high-use parts are metal rather than plastic. I’ve only used it a couple of times so far, but I’m impressed with the quality-to-price ratio, especially compared to the Dremel Workstation I was considering. This isn’t going to blast through thick steel, but it’s getting small Metal jobs done and I’m sure it would be a breeze with wood. ... show more

A side by side picture of the 1.25"X15.5" column that comes with the unit next to a 1.25"X24" aluminum tube I also got on Amazon. Should be on the "customers who bought this drill press also bought this 1.25"X24" tube" list. If you use any accessories like the XY adjustable vice, then the column that comes with the unit is just too short. The 24" column works fine. The 24" column also comes in stainless steel. My units base came with a huge burr in the center hole of the base. I guess I can grind it down with my dremel rather then send the whole thing back to China. Maybe they can just send me some of the Lime Green touch up paint instead. Paul C. ... show more

    • Nice mini-mill with the cross-slide and 24" tube.
Purchased as a low-power press and mill for wood and softer metals. Works very well for both. Only complaint is the speed control isn't a true SCR variant. Lower speeds seriously reduces motor's torque.

Like many “bargain” tools here, at Harbor Frieght, etc....One must be ready to work on the tool itself to make it useable. The feed internal threads where the feed handle screws in were dorked and the handle absolutely would not screw in. Thankfully, I have a full set of metric taps, including one that matched the male threads on the handle. I tried to simply re-tap the hole but the tap couldn’t get a bite so I had to actually drill the hole a touch larger and THEN tap it. UNLESS YOU HAVE SOME PATIENCE AND A SET OF METRIC TAPS, DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT. ... show more

This machine is well made, and heavy for its size. Don’t let the price fool you, no rattling or shaking at full speed. The speed control works well, just be aware when installing the spindle handle it’s drilled and tapped at a slight angle to avoid touching the housing.
