I have used these lights for multiple things but always on my mantle. Not just for Christmas but other seasons too. They have also come in handy for decorating for bridal and baby showers. I am about to buy another set of these and thought I'd leave a review. At only a little over $3 per set these are a great value. They take 3 AA batteries, and I can't say how long they last because I've only had them on (timer setting) for about 3 days. I didn't know how long the "Timer" setting lasted, but after a couple of days, realized they stay on for 6 hours, and come back on at the same time every day! The only improvement I would make would be to make the battery box a little smaller. I used these in various places: on the tension rod mounted garlands in the windows in the pic shown, they work great sitting on the high up windowsills, but the large battery pack is a bit cumbersome with some decor, such as on the dining light fixture or hidden behind the little coffee shop. (The lights wound up as they arrived fit perfectly in the hole inside the little coffee shop so that when it's on you can see light through all the little windows). ... show more
