It would be better to get the vest version of this because the vest area is the only area that has warming elements and I would use it as a layer. Don't expect it to be all warm and toasty. I bought this because I get extremely cold when I'm sitting in the break room at work and this thing works miracles. It keeps me warm on walks with my dog and even drives to work when my car isn't 100% warm yet. I would recommend you size down though, I bought a large and even after a few washes its a little big on me. The reason you want it a little smaller is because if it's not a somewhat tighter fit, it won't actually heat you up unless you have your back up against something like your car seat if you're driving to work with it on like I do. Typically I have to wear a coat over it in order to make it work 100%, so definitely order a smaller size than what you normally would. As far as washing this, I wash it on the delicate cycle on my washer which is 6 minutes and I usually hang it up to dry on my drying rack in the laundry room. I'm sure you clumd dry it on the delicate cycle on the dryer on low heat, but I didn't wanna risk it so. ... show more

Especially in this economy and placing in plain sight where anyone passing could see, too many porch pirates, especially when I was home and the delivery guy could have knocked and handed it to me.
