  • Milwaukee expanding tool for PEX pipe.
Excellent tool for residential home projects. However I would not recommend the 12 volt tool for commercial or bigger longer jobs. The 18 volt tool would do excellent for bigger longer jobs.

  • WOW! What a great tool!
This tool was exceptional! I replaced the 70 year old steel plumbing in my house with PEX A. There was a small learning curve but the performance was magnificent. Following the instructions was easy to obtain proper setup. I used 3/4" and 1/2" PEX A and collars. Insertin the tool into the PEX with the collar was flawless. Hold the trigger as the head expands then clicks back to start again, turning the tool 1/8 to 1/4 turn as the tubing expanded until it rested against the collar. In the instructions it said 7 - 8 clicks with 3/4" PEX was accurate, 1/2" took less. Then putting the PEX onto the fitting is a race against time. I once put the PEX onto the wrong fitting, quickly pulled it off and put it on the correct fitting. Every joint is tight. When we turned on the water there were ZERO leaks, none, not a single one of the PEX connections failed. Rechecking the next day everything is dry. Water pressure to my kitchen faucets has been restored. All other fixtures work great. I am pleased I used this tool instead of a manual expansion tool. I already have the Milwaukee Drill and Impact tool. Wonderful addition to the work shop. ... show more

  • A must have tool for anybody who does plumbing on a regular basis.
This tool works so well! Easy to use and understand directions. Way simpler and more reliable than the crimp ring tool and method! A little harder to find fittings and tubing, (not much available in the big box stores) but any real plumbing outlet will carry the tubing and fittings. Also easy to find tubing and fittings online once you know what you want. The tubing is actually superior to the type used (stronger and slightly larger diameter making it closer to actual flow rate for copper or galvanized pipe.) Tool is able to get into tight spaces for repairs, also very well made and solid construction. I couldn't be happier with it! ... show more

  • Milwaukie pex tool
Bought this tool used. Toll is complete. Minus instruction book. Works well

  • Perfect tool but limited use
When it became necessary for me to make my own PEX-A repairs, I balked at the price of this tool. But after working in tight crawl spaces between floor joists, I was glad that I did not try to save money and go with a hand-expander: it would have never worked. I can see why the slightly-used ones can re-sell for more than the new ones - they are difficult to find, and irreplaceable for good PEX work. The little LED light was very helpful for these old eyes, and the spare battery kept me going once I was under the house. ... show more

  • Quick PEX expander, east to use in tight spaces.
Good batter life, east to use in tight confined spaces unlike the manual types. Comes with tools for 1/2”, 3/4” and 1” PEX type-A tubing. Used this to add a new bathroom and replace an old water heater. Oftentimes you are in tight, confined spaces with awkward access to the PEX fitting. I’m so happy I decided to get this tool rather than a manual tool. I’m going to plumb in a 1” compressed air distribution system in my garage next. Neighbor is interested in same for his car painting shop. The plumbing was all 3/4”. Thinking of putting 1/2” PEX radiant heating in soon. Pricey but highly recommended. ... show more

  • Works like a charm and saved $$$DENAR$$$
First and foremost, I am a licensed plumber. I purchased this unit as a direct replacement of a 10+ year failed unit. This new unit is exactly the same power-house as the old, even use the old batteries in it. It will be (old too) used continuously for the duration of my job. Only thing that may alter it's usage is if I w3in the lottery and decide to close things down, work wise. CERNdog ... show more

  • Well designed but M18 might be better for 1 inch PEX
I used the M12 for 1 inch PEX and while it worked, I would not recommend using this for serious construction work when using 1 inch PEX. The M18, which is more expensive, may work much better. The M12 does however work for limited jobs and will get the job done with the following limitations: The worst issue is that the expansion cone will heat up if doing many connections in quick succession. Once it gets hot, the expanded PEX will also get hot and contract rapidly after leaving the tool making it impossible to get the PEX tubing over the fitting. I found that the solution to this is to put the expansion head in a freezer for 10-15 minutes to cool down before continuing. Of course, a freezer many not always be available, so a second expansion head might be helpful to swap out I suspect this is a particular issue when using 1 inch PEX, as the number of expansions cycles needed is much greater than for 3/4 or 1/2 PEX, and the heat generated per fitting is much greater. Note that PEX working time varies much with ambient temperature, and the situation I describe is when ambient is about 75 deg F. In colder ambiences, this issue may not be as severe. The second issue is that the battery does not last very long - about 10 -12 fittings before having to swap out batteries. The good news is that the batteries charge fast, so you don't have to wait too long, but it was an inconvenience. Also, this too may be less of an issue in colder ambiences where fewer expansions are need to keep the PEX staying expanded long enough to slide over the fittings. ... show more
