Why did I now just buy this? I've heard about using citric acid for cleaning the mineral deposits at the bottom of my kettle but didn't bother cause vinegar has worked just fine. Well, I was out of vinegar and I used quite a bit of it every 2 weeks when I cleaned my kettle so I decided to give this a try when I was looking to buy a "proper" cleaner for my kettle. Holy smokes does this work magic! 2 tablespoons is all you need and the 5lb bag will last me at least into in the next year. I just put water in my kettle, dump in 2 tbsps and turn it on, letting the water boil and the citric acid do it's magic. This works a lot better than straight vinegar and probably cheaper too (vs 1 cup vinegar)! It doesn't leave a scent in my kitchen unlike the vinegar. Highly recommend and will definitely be getting the larger bag once I run out!

I originally bought this product after seeing a video about cleaning toilets. The tank on my toilet was filled with this orange rusty color stuff. The use of acid was recommended but I was reluctant to buy a strong product before I found this citric acid. I bought this, added some to the tank and let it sit overnight and it was gone! Then I discovered I could do a 1 2 punch by letting it sit in the toilet bowl for awhile before flushing it again. Then I found out if you mix it with a like amount of baking soda you get a foaming toilet cleaner! I have also used it with my showerhead and got it cleaned up really well. I used it with the baking soda in my drains and garbage disposal it did the job. I like that it does the job but is safe to use for the environment and that I can have it in the house without extreme safety concerns. No more safety precautions than other cleaning products--keep out of your eyes, wear gloves and wash your hands. Safe to put down the drain too.

The product is good. But 2 things. 1, do NOT use much! Depending on how you are using the product, you can use "up to" 1/4 tsp per serving. It truly does enhance the flavor of pretty much anything you cook, bake or use for consuming. I haven't tried it in laundry or anything. I purchased it to get that "BAM" flavor with anything that has lemon in the recipe. It works ! I've used it in smoothies and even cooking chicken or stir-fry. But you really, really need to use a small amount. That 1 bag could easily last you a year, depending on how often you use it. I use it quite often and can see very little has been used. It will easily last me 2 years plus. The second thing you need to be careful with is the fact that you MUST dissolve it first! I usually dissolve what I'm going to use in a tablespoon of lemon juice. I may not dissolve quickly in just water. So if you are using it in something, make sure to dissolve it first. If you cook with it and don't dissolve it first, you'll not only crunch on the granules, but you'll "taste" the granules and they are quite potent - not a good flavor on its own. Imagine taking a bite out of a fresh lemon....

Use it for everything from cooking and canning to making soap and cleaning pots, pans, tiles, sinks, toilets (for that add baking soda and hot water, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, rinse). Works well even for draining clogged pipes.

If you have hard water, this is a perfect replacement for lemi-shine & Is a fraction of the cost per ounce! We simply kept our old container and refilled it with this. We tried a less expensive brand one time and it was terrible… This is the real deal! Well worth the money and much better on the budget than products specifically made for the dishwasher.

There are many uses for this product but i used it to clean years of hard water scum off my shower head. I put several tablespoons w/water into a small bucket with the shower head completely covered. I had forgotten about it for a couple hours. When i remembered and looked at it, it looked brand new!!! I did have to use a soft cloth to remove what was left (it was softened and easily wiped off). After a full rinse of it afterward, once installed, my shower head works literally like brand new!! I'll be using this to clean my washing machine as well since I'm not a fan of chemicals and read reviews about affresh causing serious long term skin ailments. This will also be great in making some bath bombs. Great product!! Ps. Though this item was shipped in an inadequate amazon bag, the product bag itself did not break open like others had happen with their order.
