I should have bought one of these a long time ago. It has made a noticeable difference in both the safety and quality of my cuts. It was very easy to install and adjust, and it fits the miter slots on my DeWalt jobsite table saw perfectly. Once it's in place, it holds the workpiece firmly against the fence without getting in the way. I now consider this featherboard just as important as a push stick. A featherboard isn't something I use for every cut, but it's absolutely one of those accessories that every table saw owner should have available. Its job is simple: apply consistent pressure against the fence so the workpiece tracks properly through the cut. That not only helps improve cut quality, but also keeps your hands farther from the blade and reduces the temptation to use your fingers where a featherboard would do a better job. I find myself using it most often for thin rips where my hands would otherwise end up closer to the blade than I'd like. It's also very useful when ripping longer boards because it helps maintain consistent pressure against the fence while I focus on feeding and supporting the workpiece. Because of that, mine stays within easy reach whenever I'm using the saw. This particular version has worked well for me. Setup is straightforward, it holds securely, and it provides the steady pressure you'd expect from a featherboard. What I like: * helps keep stock tight to the fence * especially useful for thin rips * helps maintain consistent pressure on longer boards * adds an extra margin of safety * easy to install and adjust * reasonably priced Like most Milescraft products I've used, it feels thoughtfully designed and offers good value for the money. It's not a flashy accessory, but it's one of those shop aids that can make certain operations easier, safer, and more repeatable. If you're building out a woodworking shop, I'd put a featherboard fairly high on the list of useful table saw accessories.     • Works well in MOST situations, but ...

I agree with 'A-Dog's earlier comment concerning use of this feather board for rip cuts somewhat close to the blade. My first use of this item ripping 1-1/4" off of a 1x8 board went fine; that is, the feather board was firmly set in place, and did not move. The next time I went to use it for the same application, I could not get the bolts tight enough for firm mounting without the use of some channel lock pliers. For my next use on one of these "shave cuts", I'm going to find nuts to replace the red plastic handles and tighten them down with a ratchet. The fingers are stiff and hold very tight without being flexed very much, so you might not need to be as close to the blade as you think. Overall, I like this feather board and think it's a pretty good value. I recommend it, but with the above caveats. Please don't do like they do on Instagram and take your guards off, and stay safe out there! ... show more

    • Not a total loss, but several quirks

Generally works as a feather board. The first finger indexing feature is neat, the pressure is pretty fair. The hold down features are wonky. They kind of work, but are not very user friendly. Sliding and fine adjusting is awkward. Not sure why the curve track needs the shape it does; I imagine it is material saving related, but it makes it rough with the slot clamp. Also, the track distance is kind of backwards as the further you move from the fingers, the narrow the clamp up gets and this is where the lever moment is the greatest (making it closer to a potential pivot point.) I get the geometry layout where the fingers are, but it seems straight tracks would be more functional. The miter clamps are finicky, the countersunk, bevel head of the clamping thread studs have little nubs that are not big enough to maintain centering in the miter rail piece and are small enough to twist into the slides, again making it all finicky to adjust. They also don't work well with the T-bolts on my upgraded Craftsmen saw fence. The T-track would need to be 2 or 3 inches higher to be useful. Other fences or custom fences probably work better. You can get there, but I won't buy any more of them. They work best on my router table where I just clamp them. ... show more

Have an older craftsmen table saw and this add on allowed me to rip 2x4s without any hesitation. A total game changer when wood working, I was able to make 1/8” thick strips for leveling some framing for a remodel. Would recommend! I’ve bought 2 now, one for horizontal and vertical.     • A bit difficult to adjust, but it works

This gets the job done but it is a little frustrating to adjust. The screws bind up in the plastic slots, which makes it more difficult to adjust its placement for different board widths. A little more attention to designing the slots or the screws so that they slid freely when the screws were loose would make it more convenient to use. Similarly, the block binds up in the miter slot instead of sliding freely when the screws are loose. I'll probably file down the block a little eventually if it doesn't wear down on its own. The blocks are die cast, not machined, so it is clear why the precision is not too great. I guess it is fair quality for the price but I would rather pay a little more and have it work more smoothly instead of fighting it. ... show more
