When I saw this Mikasa Flower Ceramic Photo Frame, I knew I had to have it. I’m redoing my office right now, and thought this would be perfect in the space. It being Mikasa helped too. If you aren’t familiar with the brand, let me assure you that Mikasa is a VERY good brand. On the lower end, you will find their tableware at a certain warehouse with big red letters. On the upper end, you will find their products in very classy home goods stores. Mikasa products are solid and durable, without sacrificing beauty, which is why I am always excited to find their stuff in my price range. My MIL collects Mikasa, too, but this isn’t for her. It’s mine. I am keeping it. She never needs to know. This photo frame is gorgeous. I mean, like really, really beautiful. It’s also really well made, as you would expect from Mikasa. I own a number of Mikasa products, but this is nicer than anything I already have. It’s thick and VERY heavy, and I suspect if you dropped it on your floor, it would probably only chip. I am not going to drop it on my floor to find out, because I am just in absolute love with this thing. Honestly, it’s a steal, and you’ll be doing yourself a favor if you get it. If my MIL is nice to me, maybe I’ll buy her one for Mother’s Day, because I am totally not above buying her approval.

This is a blue and white ceramic frame that is both beautiful and a showcase for your photograph. The frame looks stunning on the armoire in my dining room. (See photo) It is sturdy and has heft. I easily opened the attached velvet back and inserted my photograph. Made of thick blue and white ceramic, this frame can accommodate a 5” x 7” photograph taken in either vertical or horizontal mode. Although my home decor is traditional, the classic flower motif should go just as well in a modern home. I must say that I have rarely seen such a solid, well made and beautiful picture frame such as this. I took off one star because the cover is plastic not glass. Moreover the cover had a brand sticker slapped on the front that took Glue Gone to get off. (Not sure if that was placed there by Mikasa or the seller.) I highly recommend this unique beautiful frame for yourself or as a gift.

This beautiful ceramic picture (5x7) frame is heavy and has excellent construction qualities. It is molded smoothly, the back door where the glass and photo go in opens and closes firmly, and the clasps hold tight. The ribboned easel is secure. But did I say glass? No, there is no real glass in this frame. Instead, there is some kind of thin, somewhat stiff, clear plastic stuff expected to protect and hold the photo in place. However, it does not, because there is a barcode sticker stuck to the surface, ensuring scratches or dullness in trying to remove it. The lack of thickness as glass would have means one must cut and fit something like cardboard to fill out the difference behind the photo for it to be held properly in the space. Or source the proper size and thickness of real glass oneself, as preferable. Next complaint is the paint which, though a beautiful white and blue, has been applied unevenly on some walls of the front opening as compared to others. This gives it a very obvious unbalanced visual appearance when it should be symmetrical. Additionally, the glaze is missing in small spots on the side, where it is not too obvious, at least. Mikasa was always a high quality and desirable brand of decor in years past, but not in this particular case. At a pretty low price point, I wondered what it would be like. Now I know. I’ll still be using it in spite of its flaws because it’s so pretty anyway, but it’s a disappointment.

Is this frame pretty? Yes. Will it sit ok on a shelf? Yes. But this frame was overall disappointing to me for several reasons. 1) The "glass" part that protects the pic is actually thin plastic. It is not thick enough to hold a photo tightly without adding cardboard behind it. 2) The product label was super difficult to remove from the plastic and took an act of God to get off, with some residue remaining. 3) The plastic arrived super scratched up so it looked actually better without any protection to the pic underneath. 4) The frame is really heavy and I would worry about it falling off a wall and breaking. 5) The glaze was applied somewhat haphazardly, making it look a little unbalanced. Too bad because it could have been really beautiful and functional.

If you love blue, you’ll appreciate this lovely picture frame. It’s a deep, saturated blue and the white flowers around the frame are very elegant. The frame is heavy because it’s ceramic, but it’s not overly heavy or bulky. I’m very pleased with the size and quality of this frame. It is the type of piece that elevates its surroundings because it’s so attractive. The only thing of note is that the glass in the frame is very loose. Normally picture frames like this have several layers of cardboard and paper behind them so that the glass and photo will sit securely within the frame. There were no extra layers behind the glass, but this is easy enough to fix on my end. Everything else is just fine. For a beautiful, name brand frame that’s really eye catching, this is a very good value at this price point. It would make a thoughtful gift for a house warming, especially if the recipient loves the color blue.
