However we wanted to start roses and it seems too heavy after filled with potting material and would eventually break the stem on our roses before a place rooted.     • Have someone to help you hold the halves together

Just put them on the tree I want to propagate yesterday. So, we'll see how it goes. I couldn't get the tiny zip ties to hold things together. Out came the gorilla tape. And unless you have three arms and hands. A person to help would speed things up. One person could do it alone if there's no help. But these are well made. Now it's all up to the tree limbs and nature ... show more

    • very hard to clip closed when full of dirt

These are tricky to close when there is dirt in it. Even a grain of sand will prevent the corners from snapping shut, must use zip ties. They should make it a little easier to close and not make the tolerance so tight.

Currently using several of these and will determine how practical design is after first rooting. Somewhat tricky in loading with material and getting it closed to snap closed.

I bought these primarily for the medium size rooting balls. The parts that are supposed to snap together didn't fit well, and one entire section broke off when I tried to snap it shut. I have concluded the layering method of propagation is superior to this.

If these things really work, I wish I had purchased them 20 years ago. Really cheap and easy way to add plants to your landscape. Although, it takes a while. I'll update in 2 months and let you know how they worked on several different tree species, including: Bradford Pear, Red Oak, and Green Ash.
