  • The Turbo Tec works wonders on hardwoods/tile, but horrible on area rugs.
Style: Brush
I have a Miele Aquarius (with powerhead) I purchased 10 years ago, which is still cleaning the same amazing way it did when I first bought it. About a year ago I purchased the Miele C1 Classic too, given the amazing quality of the Miele Aquarius I assumed all Miele’s of the same kind of quality, I was wrong. We have a three story floor home and I hoped the C1 Classic would help with lugging the Aquarius up and down three levels, plus the Classic is lighter and targeted for hardwoods and low pile area rugs - this is all that exists on two floors of our home. I assumed the Classic would be a downgrade to some extent given the pricing difference between it and the Aquarius, such as extra features, etc., but never realized the head, (SBD 285 Classic Combination) on the C1 Classic was such a poor piece of equipment. It was so bad I assumed for sometime Miele had changed the quality of their vacuums in the 10 years since I purchased my beloved Aquarius. That is, until I found this Miele Turbo Teq head. Unlike the SBD combo head which comes standard on the C1 Classic, this Turbo Teq head actually PICKS up dirt, dust, fine particles, and even particles bigger than a grain of rice on tile and hardwood. The complete opposite of the standard head issued with the C1 Classic. The “classic combo head” just pushed debris around in front of the head, or they sat in the head until you turned it off falling everywhere and worse it refused to pick up anything bigger than a grain of rice. Forget using it on very low pile area rugs or even the hardwood it was intended for, I nearly pitched the entire C1 Classic Vacuum into the bin, but this Turbo Teq works on hardwood and saved it from being trashed, thank goodness. The Turbo Teq does not suction itself flat against the hardwood flooring but slightly “hovers” (for the lack of a better word), above the hardwood floor allowing debris to enter the head working wonders cleaning all hardwood flooring and or tiled surfaces without need to constantly adjust the air flow either on the hose handle or the head itself. It does not scratch my hardwood or tile, and I can give the Turbo Tec an A+ for hard surface cleaning. With that said, for use on very low pile area rugs no more than a 1/4 inch at that, I can’t give the same great review. Even adjusting air flow down on the the handle or the air flow adjuster on the Turbo Teq head itself it isn’t great on area rugs-thin area rugs at that. However, It works much better than the original head I mentioned earlier, I can at least get it to roll over the area rugs, but I can feel the brush skipping or even not rolling because the thin carpet is inhibiting the brush from rolling correctly over carpet, especially when I pull backwards, I feel resistance and I know the brush has stopped rolling. So, it has to be done slowly-far too slowly to get it to work as intended. If I have it on the lowest setting for air air flow it performs better, but it doesn’t pick up correctly in my opinion. On the lower setting you have to go over the same spot several times to ensure the rug is clean of even the smallest debris. We do not have cats or dogs, however, we do have parrots, their tiny under feathers stick to the carpet unless I pass the head over the area carpet many times, this is also true for other items too, a hole-punch sized piece of paper for instance, or even a piece of bird seed or pellet tossed across the room by a spoiled parrot throwing a temper tantrum, because that’s what parrots do, while screaming “bye, bye” at the vacuum, which has had the audacity to enter his or her space, unfortunately this happens to be any part of the house. As for the quality of this head, I’m not sure if it will last, I hope it does, but it looks and feels cheap in my opinion, and seems as if it won’t last the test of time, it’s lightweight, but not in a good way and no where close to the same quality materials as the Miele powerhead which accompanied my Aquarius. I thought about it and wondered if I’m expecting too much for this Turbo Teq $120 dollar vacuum head? Nah, I’m not. At $120 dollars this should work in an amazing manner on all things it claims it can do, but it does not. Maybe I’m spoiled given my first Miele was an Aquarius with a powerhead? I don’t know, but after spending $425 dollars on a vacuum and this additional Turbo Tec head combined, one should expect great results. I wish I had just gone with the updated version of the Aquarius or a different Miele with a powerhead given the poor performance the Classic even combined with this “upgraded Turbo Teq” vacuum head. ... show more

  • Needed for carpet vacuuming
Style: Brush
Brush attachment was quite easy to attach to Miele C1 Suction and maneuvers well around furniture. It is important to have for any vacuuming of carpet other than carpet without any pile.

  • Too good at dog hair
Style: Brush
I have a 167lb Newfoundland dog. He is a show dog and groomed constantly but still sheds up a storm. This turbo brush is good actually too good at picking up the hair. It cloggs almost every time I use it and removing the hair from the brush wheel is a pain. I learned to take it apart (the screws are under the wheels) which takes longer but gets more hair out. Nevertheless it died after 6 months. I bought it again because its shortcomings are outweighed by how well it works when the wheel is clean. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. A seam ripper works well for cleaning the brush. Gets in all the nooks and crannies.

  • Works great for small areas of carpet or low-pile rugs
Style: Brush
The product does what it's supposed to. Most of our house is hard floors, but we have one carpeted room with medium-pile carpet and I wanted a tool to use with our Miele canister that would deep clean a bit better. It is air powered, and it has plenty of torque for low and medium pile carpets, but I would absolutely not use it for anything with a deep pile. The big issue is you have to stay on top of cleaning it - for some reason hair/string/etc. gets wrapped around the brush roll super easily. Too much can slow down the brush roll and cause poor cleaning performance. It's easy to clean but you should keep this in mind. ... show more

  • Made my C1 Classic extremely effective on carpet.
Style: Brush
I have two long-haired cats, and if I don't keep up on my vacuuming my carpet quickly gets COVERED in cat hair. I really like my C1 Classic Miele but I was thinking about replacing it because I found it to be a ton of effort when it came to getting the hair out of the carpet. But I've had Mieles for years now and thought I'd give the TurboTeQ attachment a go before I gave up on the vacuum. I'm glad I did! This thing has made my C1 absolutely incredible when it comes to getting the hair out of the carpet compared to the AllTeQ head that comes standard with the C1. I'm able to leave the vacuum on the max suction setting and the rotating bristles agitate the hair enough to pull it out of the carpet after just a couple passes. Compared to how hard I was working to get the AllTeQ to do the same thing is like night and day. The only issue is that after awhile you'll want to clean the drum brush, as the rotating motion will wrap a lot of hair around itself. The instruction manual suggests using a pair of scissors to cut it out, and that seems to work well enough for me. WARNING: Be extremely careful around drapes, curtains and anything similar. The power of this thing will absolute rip it off the wall if you're not paying attention. TL;DR Totally worth the money if you'll be vacuuming a lot of carpet. ... show more
