Needed A Set of Walkie Talkies
Style: T77VP5
Living where the cell service is not very good we needed a way to keep it touch in case of an emergency. Decided on this model because of the features presented. Firstly, liked that the units can take AA batteries as well as the rechargeable pack. One can not be certain if electricity would be available in a timely manner. Also liked the shorter antenna. The taller ones tend to get in the way. Secondly, the range. Product info says 38 mile distant, but, who can believe that? Maybe out in the middle of the desert or ocean. I just need a distance of about a mile. Tested it out and found that 3/4 to one mile is maximum on High power setting without alot of static and breaking up. This is good enough for us. The units are just the right size, fits in the hand comfortably and easy to carry with the attached clip. The radios are set with the CTCSS privacy code so that we can’t hear others that maybe on the same frequency. Also have the NOAA emergency set. The weather is very handy in case of bad weather coming our way. Call button very handy and the end transmission sound is great. I haven’t as yet tried to find out how long the radio battery will last on standby. Thirdly, wanted the radios to have FRS and at least 36 channels. If there are other radios we can all talk together on one channel. There are lots of other features that make these radios a good choice. The carrying case is a great item. I can quickly gather up everything and go. Instruction booklet is very clear and easy to understand every setup and functions. The Cons: The ear piece included with the radios are trash. They are difficult to wear and sound quality sucks. If you need ear piece buy a better set. The other item not good, the USB charging cable was bad. Thought at first got a bad charger as it did not work. Wiggled the cable end connected to charger and it worked until I let go. Got another USB cable and plugged in and it charged the radios. All in all, very pleased with these radios. My neighbors saw us testing it on our walk and they were very interested in buying one. There maybe better radios out there but for us, this set fulfills our needs! Recommended.

Perfect for Road Trips!
Style: T77VP5
We specifically bought these to use on our road trips so our vehicles could stay in contact. We never had any issues with distance, however we did have a small issue with the included mic/earpieces. They are pretty sensitive to wind/external noise and will garble the transmission. This was solved by turning off air/radio when speaking. When using the handheld unit it works beautifully. May be able to switch to another 2-prong earpiece/mic of better quality to avoid this issue; we just didn’t have time to order any to test this before our trip. Love the fact you can charge them by usb if you are away from the base charger. I also truly appreciate the storage case! It makes this system (in particular) better for us so we can keep it all together and easy to pull out for whatever/whenever we need.

Midland radios have never disappointed!
Style: T77VP5
Quality is great! Range is very impressive! Of course the transmission range is greatly effected by trees and terrain... but straight line "clear" areas the distance "self test" was approximately 8.5 miles.

A very good value, especially compared to other choices
Style: T77VP5
We plan to use these on our sailboat, so that we can communicate across about 44 feet while the engine is running. I needed something voice-activated hands-free, and most of the marine catalogs had nice stuff for around $400 or more. These nice little walkie talkies with voice-activation were a quarter of that price, so I decided to give them a try. After failing with the tiny-print very sparse user's manual, I called the 800 number, which happily was easy to find. A very nice lady named Andrea helped me out immediately. She not only walked me through exactly what I needed to do, but will be e-mailing me a much larger user's manual, that should list all of the options. She also told me about the low-power vs. high-power channels. Note, these are much more power than we need for 44' separation, so hopefully we'll find something longer-range to do with them. I have not tried these on the boat yet, but am very optimistic. We could hear a little "fuzz" between us talking, and when in VOX mode, it seems that it's smart to say about 2 seconds of initial stuff, like "1 2 3 hey there..." because the first couple of seconds may not get picked up by the voice-activation. But it's going to do exactly what we need for a fraction of the price we thought we'd have to pay!

Amazing charging
Style: T77VP5
Amazing charging speed and charge hold, be having a full charge in just 3 hrs and can use it for about 8 hrs each continuously at high volume, i do road work and traffic control and communication don't stop once the radio is on. Range is affected on 6th or 7th hour so it depends on the distance we working on to determine if a fresh battery and increase my range, Overall good purchase highly recommended over others from same brand.
