Purchased this bundle for our emergency kit. The case is nice and the components were all in good order. The walkie-talkies themselves work well, although they feel fragile. My gut instinct was to handle carefully. Even with batteries, they don't feel as "solid" as cheaper Motorola sets I've owned in the past. As far as range, sitting indoors and talking to someone driving in a car, the obstructed range was two miles maximum. At closer distances the voice quality is quite clear. Have yet to test over longer, line-of-sight distances. Rechargeable battery life was about 24 hours, although recharged very quickly. The included earpieces are worthless (poor ergonomics), but not vital for our needs so not a deal breaker. (In the year 2020, at this price point, you think they would make them Bluetooth compatible, but not so.) The manual is small and the font size is tiny, so I created my own quick reference guide for use in emergencies. Comfortable using them as our backup solution.

Does Just what I wanted it to do. I would buy them again if I did not have one. Works very Good. fine. I charge my batteries, but you can use regular AA batteries. If I did not have them I would buy them. Worth the cost. We use them every day. I seldom talk to her on a cell phone anymore.

Living where the cell service is not very good we needed a way to keep it touch in case of an emergency. Decided on this model because of the features presented. Firstly, liked that the units can take AA batteries as well as the rechargeable pack. One can not be certain if electricity would be available in a timely manner. Also liked the shorter antenna. The taller ones tend to get in the way. Secondly, the range. Product info says 38 mile distant, but, who can believe that? Maybe out in the middle of the desert or ocean. I just need a distance of about a mile. Tested it out and found that 3/4 to one mile is maximum on High power setting without alot of static and breaking up. This is good enough for us. The units are just the right size, fits in the hand comfortably and easy to carry with the attached clip. The radios are set with the CTCSS privacy code so that we can’t hear others that maybe on the same frequency. Also have the NOAA emergency set. The weather is very handy in case of bad weather coming our way. Call button very handy and the end transmission sound is great. I haven’t as yet tried to find out how long the radio battery will last on standby. Thirdly, wanted the radios to have FRS and at least 36 channels. If there are other radios we can all talk together on one channel. There are lots of other features that make these radios a good choice. The carrying case is a great item. I can quickly gather up everything and go. Instruction booklet is very clear and easy to understand every setup and functions. The Cons: The ear piece included with the radios are trash. They are difficult to wear and sound quality sucks. If you need ear piece buy a better set. The other item not good, the USB charging cable was bad. Thought at first got a bad charger as it did not work. Wiggled the cable end connected to charger and it worked until I let go. Got another USB cable and plugged in and it charged the radios. All in all, very pleased with these radios. My neighbors saw us testing it on our walk and they were very interested in buying one. There maybe better radios out there but for us, this set fulfills our needs! Recommended.
