The item arrived in a plain, brown box. It was packaged well, no dents or scratches. The two wood pieces slide together, and are secured with 2 X-shaped brackets and 4 hex-socket caps and bolts. It comes with 1 Allen wrench. Upon putting this stand together, it became very clear to me that you need TWO allen wrenches. One for one side of the bolt, and one for the other side to hold the bolt in place. Luckily I had another Allen wrench in metric size 2.5. Assembly with both allen wrenches was a breeze. The stand is stable, not wobbly, and very good-looking! I would recommend this item if you've got the extra tool to put it together.

I have purchased plant stands like this before. Some use screws, others just slide into place. Although the look is great, the lock screw set made putting this together so much harder than it needed to be. I have a lot of tools, so I had an extra hexwrench, but they really should have added two. Tightening the lock screw was difficult. Three different people tried. (It got to be a bit of a competition.) We took all of them out and cleaned out the splinters and sawdust that had fallen in the shaft, and that helped. Just make sure you screw in each one a little at a time, not all at once. There was one we never did get tight. When it was all said and done, it looked fine. Wanted to like it, but not for me.

This plant stand is really nice. It was far better than expected. I have several on other pots that I have purchased at places like TJ Maxx, and they seem pretty rough comparatively. This plant stand has a smooth finish, consistent coloring, edges carefully sanded to not be sharp. It comes flat packed in a really nice box. The two parts slide together, then you install the two plus shaped brackets into the pre-routed holes and tighten the custom bolts into the holes. It is not hard, just takes a bit of finessing to get them lined up. They provide the hex wrench you need to do it. The only difficult part is towards the end, if you don't have strong hands to hold the other head still it will spin while you tighten the other end. I had to grab my hex wrenches and use a second one to finish the job extra tight. It would still work if you did not have an extra wrench, but just may not be super tight. They mention that it is for nine to ten inch pots. I have one closer to nine inches, and there are definite gaps between the pot and the stand, but it is not too bad. I will likely switch to a larger pot soon. Obviously you can flip it either direction depending on the height you want your plant. I am very pleased with this stand.

Very nice stand. Very attractive. I like the fact you can flip it for taller or shorter pots. The idea of the hardware is great, but I think mine had a quality issue. The metal X does not seat into the well in the wood. We tried forcing it, flipping it, changing sides, etc. The screws are a bit odd in that they have allen wrench sockets on both ends. That makes it tough to tighten both sides without help.
