    • Average Halloween Costume. Kid Loved It.

All little boys go through a superhero phase, so when my five year old wanted to be Batman (we're a DC household) I was happy to oblige. My only goal was to find a costume that wasn't too expensive and cheap looking because let's face it all Halloween costume are over priced for the quality they are made. So this Dark Knight Rises costume actually worked somewhat. The costume is basically a bodysuit. It's very thin, so you will need to wear clothes underneath. My son is always in the 90% for height, but usually I don't have to actually go a size up for costumes, it would have been beneficial if I had. He is 5 and at the time he was wearing size 5 shirts, but size 6 pants only because of his height. Therefore, finding the right undergarments, we live in the northeast where it is always cold on Halloween, was a challenge. The cape and cowl are one piece, which is nice, but the eyes are so small it's difficult to see out of. And to cut open wider would have completely destroyed the mask. So, if you have an older kid who is trick or treating on their own, I would advice against this, because they won't be able to see. It also didn't help that my son wears glasses. The mask was so tight that it was hard for him to wear his glasses underneath, the mask cut into his face without the glasses, and wearing them on the outside was impossible because no ears! Haha! Going back to the fabric being thin because my son couldn't see and because he was so excited that he kept running off, at one point he tripped and fell, which caused a significant tear in the pants. At the end of the day, this costume would never see the light of day again. He wore it for the school Halloween party and Trick or Treating. The utility belt was plastic in the front and polyester in the back to tie. The plastic was totally misshapen and its impossible to get to straighten back out. However, the $27-28 that I spent were worth it to me since my son had a blast and got to be Batman a couple times. ... show more

My son loves it and hates to take it off only problem for us is the way the mask is made the of the corner of it actually touches his eye irritating it cause it to be really red while wearing and with him he wants to wear it all day so I had to cut it. But overall great

    • A few flaws.

I recently bought this costume for my 3 year old brother for Christmas. I am somewhat on the fence with this costume. But before I review the product itself, I first want to thank Amazon for getting my order delivered a day before it's estimated arrival date. The first item I looked at was the body suit (the cape and mask is attached but separated from the costume). I like how the arm muscles are stuffed with cotton, but I dislike how the chest/ab muscles are of a styrofoam material. So, when I took it out of the package, the chest part was a little deformed due to wrongful packaging. Also, I can imagine my little brother not being as comfortable with a styrofoam piece compared to his other costumes which are stuffed. The next thing I took out was the mask/cape. These two are attached together, which I think is okay...although I'd rather just have it both attached to the body suit itself. Also, the mask doesn't really look like the "Dark Knight" mask. It almost resembles a robber's mask. I saw a mask at Walmart ($5) that resembles the "Dark Knight" a lot better. The last thing I took out of this 3 piece costume set, was the utility belt. At first, I didn't know the utility belt was part of this costume set so I was happy about that extra piece. However, the utility belt is so poorly made that a 7 year old can do a much better job. The black paint on the belt look like it was scribbled on with a Sharpie and the belt itself was deformed due to it being folded up for so long in the package. I could probably do without the belt and just buy my brother the actual Batman utility belts they sell in toy stores. As for sizing, I got my brother a size small (they said it fits most 3-4 year olds). He is a little on the shorter side so the toddler size could have fit him a lot better, but I'm sure he'll use it longer with the size small. ... show more

I purchased the Toddler size for my 3.5 year old twins. They wear a size 4T in shirts and 3T in bottoms (skinny waists!), and the Toddler size fits perfectly. There is enough room to put them in thermal PJs if the weather is cold (we're in Las Vegas). The costume itself is great for the price. The mask and cape are perfect for kids. The cape is long without being too long (no tripping hazards), and it catches the wind just right while they are running around. The mask needs time to shape up because of the way Halloween costumes are packaged, so don't leave it flat until Halloween night. We're letting ours shape up by leaving them on some small soccer balls - haha. The bodysuit is so cute. The chest plate is very firm, so it takes some getting used to. The muscles in the arms are cute, too, but it makes it a tad bit difficult getting the arms through. All together, it's a great look and perfect for kids. The seller is great. I think I received my order exactly a week after placing it, which was a Thursday. I was very satisfied. For the price paid, this costume can't be beat! ... show more
