There are a few things that will confuse you during setup. The setup Ilok is one of them. I being a producer already had an ilok account so I was able to get that part going. If you take your time and jump on youtube to watch the many videos out there, you'll start to get the hang of this quickly and realize how amazing this product is. You can just "Autoscript" your songs in advance and they will automatically playback some awesome lightshows. Autoloops (Used for songs with no autoscript) are rather boring but its there just in case you forget to Autoscript a song in advance. You can also BATCH autoscript a whole Serato folder so every song has a great light show, Win Win.. NOTE: For Serato your tracks beatgrid MUST be on point or else all the automation will be out of time, this confused me for a while. A++ Otherwise, loving it so far ... show more

This is the smartest thing SoundSwitch could have done. Making an affordable dongle to introduce such a remarkable software for DMX. Previously they had sold this software with a i/o box and listed for $499. I skipped right past it at that price. The star here is the software it is really all I need. Let me explain as an experienced event DJ, I use movers, wash & other effects lights. Ive always wanted more control for my light show. Especially during event formalities. *There is nothing worse then a perfect picture or happy birthday ruined by flashing red or blue dots. This software is so innovative it stops all lights when music stops. Unlike putting a gigbar or any light in sound mode that still flashes when people clap or sing. This software takes all my lights and creates an amazing show not just flashing to beats but static looks running patterns and random. Oh and with full control over all of that at a click! of the mouse. This software is compatable for tons of namebrand an off brand lighting. The dongle it self is so simple to use just plug USB into laptop, NOTE: best thing is you can run DJ software and SoundSwitch software on same laptop no interferences. You can connect dongle to a long DMX cable or a wireless transmitter (donnor). The more time consuming stuff happens in software. By selecting your lights and matching channels. Nothing too hard to worry over. Ok about software yup its 7.99us a month. Which i prefer for now, i dont dj every month so just unsubscribe for a month or two.     • Works Well after setup

The media could not be loaded. It took a little to get it set up properly (thanks to a lot of youtube videos). Now I have it set. Scripted a few songs that I put in a separate crate in Serato. I also programmed a button on my RANE Four to move to the next autoloop. This makes it feel like you have some control over the lighting. I do wish there was an easier way to setup a visualizer so you could script without having lights setup - I know there is a way, but it has not worked for me yet. ... show more

    • Works Great - Be aware of the video card issues

I'm a mobile wedding DJ. I have a large library that I didn't want to have to program individually. I also don't DJ more than a few events a year so didn't want something super expensive. It took me a while to get use to the software, but once I did, it worked well. Support from the company was exceptional when I had questions. My one negative about the product is that the software doesn't support computers with Intel based video cards. Which negates the use of a LOT of machines. Luckily, I had a desktop that I wasn't using any longer that had an NVidia card that was supported. But, I had to move all of my DJing tools over to that in order to utilize SoundSwitch properly. So, a little more painful than I anticipated, but once it was all squared away, it worked extremely well for my first wedding and I received a lot of compliments from the wedding party.     • Fantastic idea but software leave a lot to desire

This works fantastic with my Prime 4+ controller and sound switch software. however the software has a lot of flaws. For starters, while the website says I can create my own custom fixtures and DMX mappings, I cannot find the menu they refer to anywhere in the most recent version, which means I have to solely rely on the ready made DMX fixture mappings they provide in the library which are subpar for many fixtures. For example, there is no cue or control for RGBW white channel or for many fixtures that have special channels. The ones that do work great though. After some fiddling around with the cues and the autoscript settings I have been able to batch autoscript my entire library of music pretty easily and the light shows are acceptable for basic stuff, however the AI auto scripting could use a lot more work with adapting to different genres of music and knowing what sections of a song are what. For the monthly subscription cost of the software, I feel they should allow more customization of channel mappings and have better auto-scripting options. Manual show creation is also lacking as it is difficult to understand the layout and controls for each fixture. There is a steep learning curve with programming your own shows. ... show more

Its a great wire, don't get me wrong. The price more or less reflects the 3 months free then the wire. So is it really free or am I paying that in advance? The wire is pretty sturdy. I ended up returning the wire to get the control one. You either want to play clicking back and fourth between the dj program with just the wire, or have an external box to control the program away from flip flopping programs. That is what the wire option gives you against the box. Everyone was saying the program was hard. After watching the gent with the youtube page for soundswitch, I got it. Its making the patterns that's the pain. If you want to just try out the software, and don't want to pay for the box, this is your option right here. ... show more
