This thing works as it should. Has really saved my back. I have it mounted high on a large piece of oak. I simply place a medium sized long on it centered. Smack it with a large hammer and its splits. If it doesn't go all the way through I flip it over and hit it on the other side.

You can mount this to a board or stump with the screws provided. The blade is a curve 4 inch surface. Out of the box it’s a dull wedge. Since we’re talking about kindling, you can use a hand sledge and split your already cut maybe quartered firewood. Nice safety orange color. There’s an edge protector included as well. Your choice to sharpen the edge. This is a kindling splitter, not a splitter for full-width logs. Please be safe.
