This immediately revived my dead Dyson V11 -- the only thing wrong was the trigger switch. It was challenging to remove and replace the power contacts on the motor assembly. Aside from this, the replacement was straightforward. Be sure you have all the necessary tools -- long Philiips screwdriver, Torx T-8 screwdriver, pliers, spudger to help pry off covers. ... show more

So the only reason I went with this metal trigger, as others I read regarding the broken plastic one, said to upgrade to something stronger. First of all, you better be good at taking stuff apart and putting it back together if you plan on replacing the trigger yourself. Videos helped, but it was still challenging. Next, and I'm assuming this may be based on location, but we have dry weather and static, and if you're vacuuming and use the little locking mechanism, and you're not keeping a connection to the trigger, you get shocked continuously while using it lol! It's not the worst, but did take us a sec to realize we need to ground by touching the trigger. Then the little locking piece is interesting, it just slides on, meaning it also slides off, so it takes some constant adjusting to make it functional. At least with this trigger, it will probably outlast the life of my Dyson now. ... show more

Why Dyson is not using this as the default trigger in their vacuums or some other sturdier material instead of the pathetic plastic triggers they use, I have no idea, but the disassembly and replacement were worth it for me. The installation/replacement was very involved, and you have to disassemble the entire vacuum just to get to the trigger. I fortunately already have most of the tools needed to do the replacement, so that wasn't much of a problem except for the T8 Torx screwdriver for the screw that holds the trigger in the handle. It is pretty deep inside the handle, so you need at least 3" of screwdriver shaft, including the drive tip, to reach. It is worth the upgrade in my opinion. It is for me. The product comes with a QR code that will bring you to a YouTube video for a step-by-step disassembly to follow along with, so if you are someone who is comfortable with taking their things apart, then this is a worthy upgrade and, for the most part, easy. ... show more
