Cheap hard plastic insert instead of a foam foot insole. I took the foam insoles out of an old pair of Sketchers and put them in the Merrells and they are fantastic. If you buy a pair of these get some Dr. Scholl inserts or take some out of another pair of shoes and you will love them. I use mine for hiking everyday and they are comfortable, Grip and wear well and are waterproof. Merrell ought to be ashamed for making such an uncomfortable shoe to save a few pennies on foam.     • Best boots ever
I have been on my feet field surveying for almost 50 years, and so glad I came across these, that now i always keep a pair in reserve. What I do is so much more than hiking, it's often making new trails and I have tried and wore hundreds of boots, good and bad. I never felt tired or sore or lack confidence in these. I would not recommend them for sloppy mud, or for construction, but they are so good that I can wear them all weekend as well. Love everything about these boots but the waterproofing. Very comfortable right out of box. Rigid enough to cushion me from rocks and roots on the trail but soft enough to “feel” the trail and enjoy the hike. Great ankle and heel support. Waterproofing is limited to water below the toe and sole and even then I found it deteriorated over time (for me, 6 months/900 miles). My feet get wet walking through wet grass now. ... show more

    • Decent but break them in before long hikes

Comfortable, good support and appears to be some good quality materials. I laced them up a little too tight at first and had a pinch where your toes flex. Once I loosened things up in the toes, things got much more comfortable. It was my fault for not breaking them in but I ordered them late and the first time I wore them was on the plane for NYC. I put on 21 miles in 3 days walking all over Manhattan from Central Park down to One World Trade Center. Feet felt pretty comfortable afterwards, even without breaking them in so I imagine they will feel even better on my next outing. I've had a few weeks of winter weather to evaluate these boots and I love them. They are light, easy to put on with just one speed lace, and keep my feet dry. I wear them in the rain and snow, and use them almost daily here in the upper Midwest. I really needed an inexpensive waterproof boot to use when I am out and about, and these were perfect. I haven't tried them as a real hiking boot, so I cannot speak to there performance in that venue, but overall I love these boot. ... show more

My husband loves these boots and usually buys them at bass pro when we went to buy them there they didn't have his size so we bought them online and they were 30 dollars cheaper. This is a good quality boot good for hinking or everyday use. They are true to size and are mostly waterproof.

    • Best hikers for the money

I bought these moabs after reading some random internet reviews of them. I bought them for deer hunting. I do a ton of walking/scouting for my style of hunting. These are the most comfortable boots I’ve worn for hunting. I can walk all over the place and my feet do not hurt. They have great support and they’re lightweight. As far as waterproof goes so far they have been. I have not submerged them and I try to avoid it but I have walked through morning dew and small creeks and my feet have stayed dry. I would assume just like any other boot they will eventually leak. Hopefully I can get a few years out of them before that. Once they do I’ll just buy another pair. Just keep an eye out on Amazon when they go on sale. Can’t beat the price. ... show more
