I haven't been on my trip yet so I'll revisit this review when I return, but wanted everyone to know a couple of things right away! First, I have really bad balance so I've been wearing them around to get used to them. They are extremely sturdy and have kept my ankles very supported. Second, a lot of the time, the laces area of the shoe gives me blisters. This pair of boots started that as well, but the versatility of the laces allowed me to find my comfort spot. I just put the tongue out on one side, laced them up that way and then the blister spot was no longer an issue!! So far, so LOVE!! ... show more

These hiking boots seem to be very nice and good quality as I would expect from Merrill, but they do seem to run a whole size small. I sized up a half size and it still was not quite enough.

The wide size isn’t wide enough, it didn’t fit my son who fits into other wide sizes. And the sole is very inflexible, it’s like trying to walk on a piece of wood.

The waterproof feature was nice for the low streams we crossed on our hike. They are a little heavy for the size, but my son didn’t complain about it. Wish the laces were thinner so they stayed tied better.
