  • Super Comfy Shoes
This represents my fifth or sixth pair of Merrell Moabs over the years. I've had both the waterproof and ventilated varieties, and I often have one pair of each. This, however, is my first pair of Moab 2s. Clearly, I like the Moab line, and one of the main reasons is the straight-out-of-the-box comfort for which Merrell is renown. There is no break-in period with these shoes. You can put them on and know your feet will be happy. There are a few things I would recommend however, based upon prior Moab usage. One of my other reasons for buying these shoes again and again is that they last a long time. The soles are rugged. They do not wear out whether I am hiking mountains or just doing the daily urban hiking of a walking city like New York. Always unlace the shoes to take them off. If you pull your foot out them all the time without unlacing, the cloth at the back of your foot by your achilles tendon will wear away and the padding behind it will be visible and become loose. Also, there is something about the laces that makes them susceptible to becoming untied. If I don't double knot them, they come untied more so than any shoe I have ever owned. Maybe the laces are coated to repel water or something, but I definitely recommend double knots. Lastly, if you want to keep your waterproof Moabs waterproof, I recommend using a waterproofing product at least one a year. That is a standard recommendation given by manufacturers for most waterproof gear, but I've found that my feet stay dry in these shoes if I re-waterproof them annually. Even with the preceding recommendations, I wholly recommend Merrell's Moab line. If the Moab 2 is as nice a shoe as its predecessors, I will be enjoying them for a long time. ... show more

  • I like them
They’re very comfortable and tough. They run a little small, which is ok for me. I can never find a size 12.5 in any shoe, so a 13 is just about perfect. The arch support was a little too much out of the box, (I’m pretty flat footed) but as they break in they’re conforming to my feet nicely. I haven’t tested the waterproof capabilities yet, but I may come back and drop a star if it doesn’t meet my standards. All in all, very satisfied ... show more

  • As Good As Ever
I've been wearing a similar pair of Merrells for eleven years for cold weather hiking and camping. They have been so comfortable that I got this pair for everyday wear. So far that is working out perfectly though I probably continue to use the old ones in the woods just to see how far they can go before completely falling apart. ... show more

  • Comfy, rugged, attractive.
I tried the non water proof version on at a store. Loved them. The fit is great, and I love the look. I even have a sensitive big toe and hiking is still very enjoyable in these!

  • these fit me!
These fit me well. I've always had great luck with full Merrell hiking boots, but I'll be hiking the Inca Trail in Peru this September and wanted and try a low top lighter-weight shoe since we won't have to carry a full pack. I've worn them on two 12 mile day hikes in the Sierra Nevada's (with gators to keep the dirt out), and they are very comfortable. No blisters. ... show more

  • A great hiking shoe!
A very comfortable shoe that’s durable and waterproof. Really good tread that is good on just about any terrain. Switched from a Columbia shoe I loved that I wore out, and Merrell shoes are even better.
