After spending a day in two inches of half frozen slush on a hike, I decided I needed something better suited to trails. Research, research, research. A lot of the top boots are $150+. These got high ratings on multiple websites. Get these on Amazon way below prices I'm seeing elsewhere. First trip: mud, river, and slush. I had to adjust the laces because the tongue is a little fat, but that's ok. 6 hours of hiking, feet felt fine. Went past ankle deep in water in a couple of places, so my feet didn't stay completely dry, but they were keeping my socks dry otherwise. Still comfortable at the end of the day. Fit well no real break in time for me , same size I get in other shoes were maby a tad to big but really close . Lots of traction ,light weight ,they did keep my feet dry on first hike . I'm very satisfied so far.

This shoe is unbelievably comfortable and easy to put on and lace up. Inserts fit well but don't seem to be necessary. Only issue was I ordered a 9.5 wide and they sent a 10 regular fit. I returned them and got the correct sizing on the second pair. I would highly recommend.

A long time Phaserbound II customer, I felt that their width was a bit narrow. These are very comfortable for the wider foot especially in the toe box which accommodates all my toes with less of that outer taper that usually presses against those toes. Nice and roomy and great hiking support. My only small gripe is that their weight is still above average, but I'll take that any day because they last a long time. ... show more

Shoe looks good and feels great. However, the tread design leaves a large block of tread in the middle of the balls of my feet. The more I stand or walk in them, the more discomfort I get.

Cheap hard plastic insert instead of a foam foot insole. I took the foam insoles out of an old pair of Sketchers and put them in the Merrells and they are fantastic. If you buy a pair of these get some Dr. Scholl inserts or take some out of another pair of shoes and you will love them. I use mine for hiking everyday and they are comfortable, Grip and wear well and are waterproof. Merrell ought to be ashamed for making such an uncomfortable shoe to save a few pennies on foam. Sketchers at a quarter the price feel better on your feet. ... show more
