  • These are a great replacement for my beloved Keens...
Size: 7 Wide Color: Walnut
These replaced my worn-out, much-loved Keens. I saw these in a sporting goods store. But as usual they didn't have my size. I had to order my size, a 7 wide. I wondered if they would be a good replacement for my Keens. And you know what? They fit great! and on top of that, there were no hot spots and no break in period. I without a doubt would by these again. They look good, they feel great and I'm sure they will last for years. ... show more

  • Comfortable--Rugged--Anti-Slip Shoe!
Size: 8.5 Color: Granite V2
These shoes, like my other Merrell Shoes, are great! I was originally worried that these might be some kind of "knock-off" brand but they are not. I found out that the new sole emblem is actually real and that that manufacturer is a new "partner" with Merrell. This color looks really nice. It is nicer than the picture shown in the ad. The grey and black contrast is quite pleasing to the eye. They fit like Merrells usually fit and they are very comfortable. As usual, the in-soles are removable so as to allow for insertion of your own custom orthotic. This shoe runs TRUE-TO-SIZE--don't play games with sizing, you will be sorry. I purchased a 1/2 sized larger than needed because I sometimes wear thick athletic socks when I do my walking. Additionally, the soles are very "grippy" and will serve you well on most all surfaces. However, remember NO sole will guarantee you will never slip it is just that these soles provide great traction. This particular model IS NOT WATERPROOF! If you want waterproof you will pay more and you must look for the special waterproof label on the side of the Merrell Shoe (all the waterproof models have this label). If you go for waterproof you will pay more and your feet will feel a little "warmer" inside when you have them on. Well that's my story. Good shoes! Good value! Not knock-offs! Buy them, you will be happy. Great color. ... show more

  • Sturdy, comfortable
Size: 11 Color: Walnut
I wore these shoes backpacking through Europe for two months. I walked hundreds of kilometers, including highly rugged terrain in the High Tatras and the Albanian Alps. They have held up the entire time with no signs of damage. They have great grip and saved my ankles more than once after an awkward slip. They’re very comfortable and I can honestly say my feet barely ever felt sore, even after walking 25km trails. I hiked through mountains, as well as walking for hours on concrete and cobblestone European streets, and I found they worked perfectly for both scenarios. These versions are not waterproof, but I find they’re pretty resistant and it takes a lot to get soaked. They dry relatively quickly as well. The downsides: They’re hot and stuffy. You need merino wool socks, and even then my feet got pretty sweaty. They have a reputation as true-to-size and fast to break in, but I found this wasn’t true. I went a size up. The worst aspect by far is the soles, which are weirdly low quality and simply must be replaced with inserts. But you should do that anyway if you’re hiking. They’re also quite ugly if you care about appearance. But again, they are for hiking that’s not a concern for me. I highly recommend these shoes, especially because they are frequently on sale. They were $50 on Amazon when I purchased them. For the quality, the comfort, the durability and the price, I think they are great shoes; especially if you want no-fuss shoes that work for urban walking and outdoor hiking. ... show more

  • Comfortable and True to Size
Size: 9.5 Color: Walnut
I haven't had the opportunity to do any significant hiking in these and can't comment on how they hold up over time; that is the only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. What I can say is that I normally wear a 91/2 shoe, bought a 91/2 in these and the fit was perfect. Due to their being laced rather than slip on I was able to try wearing two pairs of socks (as I would in very cold weather) and they were just as comfortable as with one pair. I was impressed at how comfortable they were right out of the box. I think you could wear them on a long hike right out of the box with no problem. But I wore them for a few hours the first day then the second day they felt even better, so I suggest giving them at least a short break-in before a day long hike. They appear to be a quality shoe that will hold up well, but time will tell on that score. ... show more

  • Great outdoor shoe for just about every use
Size: 9.5 Color: Boulder
I've always been a Keen fan but decided to give these a try mostly because of the price. Overall I'm happy with these shoes so here are the Pro's and Con's. PRO'S 1. The overall fit is perfect no need to size up or down. 2. They have a comfortable padded collar that wraps around your ankle and heal for support. 3. They are very easy to slip on and off with the loop pull on the back of the heal. The design is perfect. 4. The color is spot right on with the pictures and the shoes are nice to look at. 5. The quality is very good and the shoes are well put together. 6. The soles are grippy even in wet conditions. 7. I've worn them on a couple of warm sunny days without my feet getting hot. That's a big thing for me. They breath just fine. THE CON'S !. Not much insole padding on these. ( Keen's are much better ) The overall support is good but the shoe in general lacks that nice padded feel. It hits rather hard. 2. You can't add a thick padded insole because it will interfere with the fit of the shoe. I tried it didn't work. 3. I finally added a Dr Scholls foam insole, the thinnest one I could find. It seems to be working but time will tell. That was a $10 hit. So much for trying to save money. 4. This was the one star deduction. I hope the shoes get more comfortable as they brake in and the added insoles do not become a problem. Overall these are great shoes for the price. ... show more
