A perfect boot that is roomy and ideal for those with sensitive feet
Size: 11 Wide Color: New Olive/Gum
I'm a picky old man who just had to throw away the pair of leather hiking/work boots that I have had for more than 25 years. I have an extra-wide foot and have foot neuropathy (pain and sensitivity). I also have serious back problems. All these things combine to make buying any kind of shoe or boot a problem. I read the reviews on this boot and it talked about them being "roomy". I thought that was a strange way of describing any kind of footwear. However, after trying these on I knew exactly what they meant. My neuropathy means that any pressure anywhere on my foot is going to bother me. My normal shoe size is 10-1/2. When I wear boots, I always wear extra-thick socks, usually wool. So I bought a 1/2-size larger 11-wide pair of boots. As soon as I tried them on, I understood the concept of "roomy". Before tightening the laces, there was space everywhere, if that makes sense. They weren't tight in the toes, or the width or across the top of my foot, or in the heel. The way the laces and general boot design are it allowed me to tighten the boot to fit all parts of my foot just right. No extra pressure on my sensitive feet! The boots are not ultra-light, but they are light enough for my old legs. Once tightened, they have a solid feel about them. The soles of the boots are almost sticky and grip maybe a little more than I would like. However, from a safety point of view, this solid grip feel will be ideal when hiking, but it may feel a little weird when walking around the house. It's not a problem, just different. They are perfect for their intended use. I have a high arch, and these come with quite a high arch, almost a solid removable insole. Since I didn't feel the arch was high enough, I ordered a pair of high-arch insoles. After I ordered the new insoles, I pulled out the original ones and was surprised by how high the stock insole arch is. I don't think my replacements will be any higher. Bottom line is these boots are just about perfect for me. I doubt they will last 25 years but I am extremely pleased with them. ... show more

Works great as a women's hiking boot too!
Size: 8 Color: Talc
I normally wear a women's size 9 Wide shoe, which would equate to a size men's 7.5 Medium. However, for hiking, these boots in a men's size 8 Medium were perfect. The colors are very gender neutral, and I have received numerous complements on these boots. I wore them on a multi-day hiking trip with zero break-in and no problems whatsoever. I do use my own insoles because of various arch problems, and I was able to easily put them into these boots. Excellent comfort and support. A good balance of being relatively lightweight while as sturdy. These are my first boots with ankle support, and I really liked it. ... show more

It's always a good time to hike
Size: 7.5 Wide Color: New Beluga
I've put a few miles on these now and I'm very happy with them. Felt comfortable from the start. Comparably, they may run slightly larger, but for my use, it's the right fit with heavier socks for cold weather use.

Excellent comfort, middle of the road longevity
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Earth
I tried this boot on along with 3 other top shelf offerings from Solomon, Keen, and La Sportiva and the fit of these blew the rest outta the water. These were by FAR the widest booting the toe box and that’s exactly what I needed. All the boots were the same 10.5 extra-wide (which I think is a 2E but I could be wrong) I really need probably a 10 4E but that’s a whole nother story. Out of box comfort 9/10, stiffness 6/10 not very stiff in the sole nor the ankle. Which was perfect for Nee Hampshire hikes. Waterproofness was a 4/5. So I’ve owned them 3 years and now suddenly they aren’t waterproof. It’s night and day and it happened suddenly. Also the retention strap for the lace (the highest lace holder) broke about 6 months ago which of as a shame cuz it’s built into the boot body. Overall a great boot but I didn’t get that many miles out of them which is disappointing. 3 years may sound like a long time but when you consider the actual time worn they should’ve held up better for longer. ... show more

Love them so far (2 months out)!
Size: 11 Wide Color: New Earth
I bought these to try them out. I have been wearing them about 2 months and so far they are comfortable and seem to be holding up well. They were more expensive than i wanted to pay but i would rather pay more and get comfort than be cheaper and hurt my feet. The soles are fairly aggressive so they should grip well in gravel, sand and mud. If they continue to be comfortable and hold up then i would likely buy them again. Initially i like them a lot, time will tell how they hold up. ... show more

Pleased with my purchase
Size: 10 Color: Earth
Why: I'm not a big hiker but sometimes I need boots for some tasks and short hikings so I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money on boots and these were on a discount. I got them for about 100$. Sizing: I was worried about sizing issues so I did some research and measured my foot and went via JP size (most accurate). my foot is about 27 centimeters long and I'm usually EU size 42.5/JP size 27.5 cm but according to merrell's sizing chart the JP size for 27.5 cm is EU 43.5. merrell's shoes are one size smaller hence some people are complaining about sizing issues. my dad is EU size 44 and got these boots somewhere else (not in amazon) for 45 EU which confirmed this merrell sizing chart. since its recommended to take 0.5 cm up for hiking boots I ended up going with EU size 44/JP 28 cm which is 0.5 cm bigger than my usual size. it fits very well with a very minor room for foot movement just like it should. I was worried about ordering my exact size since I'd might need to use thick socks and then it would be a bit tight. overall I'm very happy that I went with this pick but I'm sure you'll be ok with your exact size as well. Conclusion: I don't have too much walking time on these so I can't comment about that but from the little experience I have I can say that: 1. You don't need to worry about break in period since they're very comfortable out of the box. 2. I had some boot tongue biting my tendons but it can be easily fixed by massaging each of the boot tongues for 10-15 mins and then they're soft and not biting anymore. I'm very pleased with this purchase. I ordered the Earth color. ... show more

MOAB 3 NEW OLIVE & GUM
Size: 11.5 Color: New Olive/Gum
Fantastic! Will buy again. Only negative is that the sides are the suede material that scuffs easy. Other than that its an awesome boot. Hugs my feet and doesn't dig in or rub anywhere. The laces are thick and pull in great.
