Embarking on a hiking journey through the challenging landscapes of Hatcher Pass in Alaska, I retired my old Moab 2s for the Merrell Men's Moab 3 Hiking Shoes. These shoes exhibited exceptional durability, holding up admirably without any signs of damage. The outstanding grip averted potential ankle twists after encountering awkward slips, providing much-needed stability on the rugged trails. Comfort remains a strong suit; even after a 12-mile hike, my feet felt remarkably at ease. While not waterproof, their water resistance held up admirably, drying quickly after exposure to moisture. On the downside, they tended to get hot and stuffy, necessitating the use of merino wool socks to manage sweat. Despite the minor drawbacks like potential heat and stuffiness, the Merrell Moab 3 shoes deliver on durability, comfort, and versatility. I recommend sizing up for an optimal fit, and replacing the soles with inserts enhances their performance. While not the most stylish, these shoes offer exceptional performance, making them a reliable choice for both urban walking and outdoor hiking. I usually wear size 9.5 but i was a little hesitant to order my regular size because there were a few comments that these shoes run small. However, these shoes are true to size. I also noted that these shoes do not require any break in period. They are comfy right from start. I also noticed that these shoes have plenty of cushion all around and they feel even more comfortable than any of my running shoes. The sole has very good grip. I’ve been wearing my Merrell Moab’s 3 for about a week and love them. First, I’m a12W and sometimes have trouble finding shoes that are actually that size…the Moab 3s were right on the mark and comfortable right out of the box. The sole is a bit more aggressive than my previous Merrell’s which is good as I plan to do hiking in them. I can’t speak to the waterproof claim yet, but my previous pairs did well in that department. I like the looks which combines functionality with just a good looking, tough shoe. This is my third pair of Merrells, all have held up well with some pretty solid performance. Finally, price, you can certainly find more expensive hikers and maybe they’re better (???), but Merrells fill every square for me so I can’t see the benefit in paying more. I bought the men's Moab Hiking shoe and this is the second time I have purchased this model. while I am over all happy with this purchase because these shoes are rugged, durable, comfortable and I like the style as well, the only complaint I have is that the souls leave black marks on my white tile floors I bought a pair of the slip on Merells because these are such good quality and the soles leave far less of a mark on my floors. These shoes, like any well made shoe is so comfortable, you forget you are wearing them especially when wearing them for strenuous exercise, which I wear for mountain biking. ... show more

THe 5 stars is not the original rating.. Fit was very comfortable, no issues at all. I used the try-before-you-buy. I kept the 8.5 and returned the 8. These are my go to outdoor shoes.Bought them in October. Revised 1/8/24 I started noticing a lace coming apart where it enters the top eyelet. My return window had closed so I reached out to the MFG, they sent me a replacement pair of laces, which did not match the shoes at all. after rcving the laces I reached out to Merrell again thru their online chat. Was given a song and dance about returns..yada yada yada. I told them again, all I wanted was laces that matched or exchange the shoes. They were not even going to entertain the idea of an exchange, ok I get it, did not purchase direct. But the CS rep would not even comment on the question of , if it were you, would you be satisfied. So I took a chance and contacted Amazon and once the chat session started and got the same kind of response...".return window closed, very limited what I can do". I told the rep that I know up line supervisors can make exceptions. so, in the end I got a return issued to me by a supervisor. And will be issued a refund once they are rcvd. I should have taken a chance with Amazon even after the return window had closed. In the end it turned out to be great CS(amazon) ... show more

This is my second pair of these Merrell’s. They offer great support, have a great grip soul and last a very long time. My first pair lasted more than five years with routine hiking. They are comfortable and the waterproof version is exactly that. They breathe well, even for waterproof shoes. The fabric really isn’t meant for long hours out in sub freezing weather but my feet stay warm for at least an hour in temperatures above 25 degrees. Exceptional value. ... show more

Size: 10.5 Color: Earth
I am a US 10.5 shoe wearer, we are the majority/plurality of men in the United States, and we know exactly what size shoes are and there is no fooling us. This shoe is .5 sizes too small. That's it. Next time I will order an 11. There is, of course, zero percent chance my foot got larger right now, it's just a .5 size off, as usual with Amazon shoes. However, this is the best pair of shoes I've owned in a while. Decades even. They are long lasting, work great in wet surfaces, handle mud, they're not too warm or cold, they shed water, they don't make my feet stink, no callouses/bunions, no blisters, no aching feet, but they pinch the toes ever so slightly during longer runs/hikes, so they are 1/2 size too small. That's it. That's as good as mail-order shoes get these days unless you just order them from your bespoke Cobbler in The Square Mile. A perfect 10.5 will not produce bruises under my big toes during extended use, and I'll never notice the pinch at the toes. This shoe is just a tad too small, the usual Cross-ocean cost saving measure. When will they learn you can't cheat rulers? Never it seems. ... show more
