  • 4.0 out of 5 stars They Are Beautiful... And Chewed My Heels Off
Size: 9 Color: Walnut
I'm willing to admit the problem I experienced with my Merrell Moab 3 Vent Hiking Shoes (Men, Size 9) might be unique to my own feet, and not the fault of the shoe itself. That said, here's my experience: The shoes arrived and, like so many have noted, felt comfortable right out of the box. Nonetheless, with a camping trip to Yosemite coming up in just a few weeks, I was eager to start "breaking them in" right away on my morning walk the following day... ...which is when the top portion of the Moab 3 upper started to rub against my back heels (about 2" above the bottom of my foot). Unfortunately, I had already gone fairly far outbound, and the pain started while returning inbound to my home. By the time I got there... the back of my foot above the heel had pretty much gone past the blister stage and into the torn blister/raw flesh stage. My right foot was much worse than my left, BTW, lending more credence to the assumption that this is probably a problem with my unique feet, and not a general shoe problem. I mean, so many people love these shoes and have never had a comfort problem, let alone a rubbing/pain issue, so, again, I'm still giving them 4 stars (for quality, looks, etc.). But I wanted to note (as I have read in one or two isolated reviews elsewhere online) that I had a heel rubbing problem. The happy ending to this story is that the return process with Amazon was effortless and quite satisfactory. So I wouldn't let this review necessarily sway you. Odds are you won't have fit problems like I did. And if not, then: Happy Hiking! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Men's Merrell Moab 3 Hiking Shoes- Black
Size: 13 Wide Color: Black Night
I bought a pair of Merrell winter boots this past winterand it was like walking in 2 heated pillows all winter long so I was hoping for the same as these will be my everyday walking shoes and once again I was not disappointed. I used the try it before you buy it feature for these as my feet are very weird, I have wide feet so it's very difficult for me to find a decent shoes that fits perfect for me but so far Merrell is it and I'll continue using them until that changes. These hiking shoes are like two stable pillows on my weirdly shaped feet, I've been going for walks almost everyday and my feet don't hurt at all, this brand has been a blessing for me... no lie. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Best Hikers I've Found
Size: 12 Color: Walnut
Tough, good grip, good support. My experience is that these may run a bit small. Usually wear size 12 in hikers, but have one of these in 13 that fits perfectly, yet another in 13 requires an after market footbed, otherwise it's a bit too large! Size 12 in this shoe is too short for me. There is always some variation in most manufactured items. These Merrells are overall the best hikers I've ever used. For what it's worth, I need tie shoes to keep my feet in place for downhill sections of trails. In my 70's now, careful walking is critical---must have grippy soles on wet surfaces and these Vibram soles serve well and last long---and are reasonably priced. Great shoes! ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes for a great price on Amazon
Size: 12 Color: Walnut
I normally wear a size 11 so I ordered an 11.5 since I was ordering online from a company other than Amazon. When they arrived they were too small. I went through the hassle of returning them and ordered a size 12 from Amazon, knowing I could easily return them if needed. Thankfully, they fit fine. They were an incredible price on Amazon. REI sells them for $110 (with their annual sale they are 20% off - $88.00 - plus $30 to join their club). I got mine on amazon for $59.00. Loved them so much I got two more pairs. I do a three-mile walk in them every morning. So far I love them. Very sturdy, yet comfortable feel. And I love both colors I got. One note; the color beluga appeared to be black on the pictures online but turned out to be gray. Luckily, the gray color looks great too. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Consistent - always true to size!
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Olive
For years I wore only New Balance shoes because they came in wide sizes. About 10 years ago, my wife and I were vacationjng in FL and stopped by a Merrell outlet store, where I found a pair of Moabs on sale. Found them to be the most comfortable "do it all" shoes I'd ever worn. About a year later, I took a chance and ordered another pair of the same size from Amazon; same perfect fit! I've ordered about 15 pairs over the last ten years, and all have fit without fail. Better yet, they last forever. I still have and wear most of them in various states of abuse. They just don't fall apart, are always comfortable, and provide excellent support! ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed....
Size: 10.5 Color: Earth
Merrills typically take about 8-9 months before wearing out on the breathable mesh portion of the upper shoe for me. I wear em daily & walk about 6 miles per day with my dogs on woodland trails. I bought this pair last month delivered may 28th/23. Started wearing them about a week later so about a month of wear. (See photo of sole of shoe showing brand new condition) I took a seat and noticed wearing and fraying already showing up (on both shoes)Not to mention I swap between these and a pair of Columbia hiking shoes bought exactly the same week. Columbia's holding up fine except they take a while to work in while the Merrills are comfortable straight out of the box. Disappointed but thems the breaks I guess ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars The most durable and comfortable hiking shoes I have ever owned.
Size: 9 Color: Black Night
I bought a pair of these back in 2017 (pictured on the left in the photo) and have worn them almost every single day for 6 years. I live in a city that is hard on shoes. I never had a pair of Nike or NB last more than six months, so I went to hikers. No regrets; these shoes are freakin' awesome. I ordered a replacement pair in May 2023 for $60 -- slightly *less* than I paid in 2017, though how that works I have no idea. They are identical to the 2017 pair, same quality and out-of-the-box comfort. I hope they are still making them in 2029 when it is time to replace these. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Nice try Merrell but not quite as good as my last few.
Size: 14 Wide Color: Walnut
They looked nice, were wide which I like and were comfortable initially but I can't wear them for more than 4-5 miles on moderate hikes and that balls of my feet starting hurting. I don't dare take them on my backpacking trips. Tried using Dr Scholl's heavy duty insoles and still have the pain. In the past those insoles had helped. For the record. I'm 6'2, 325lbs, size 14 wide feet. Double or triple E in New Balance sneakers. ... show more
