  • Great value
Size: 10.5 Color: Walnut
After several months of use on dry California trails, I love these boots. The arch support is superb and the ankle support is perfect for uneven, rocky paths including inclines. I typically hike up a mountain at a vigorous pace then run down. These boots don’t feel like boots when I’m running. This is the first shoe/boot I ever boot online. The free, pay later 30-day trial convinced me to buy unseen (and it was about $20 less than REI for same boot). I haven’t had them wet so can’t comment on disability after wetting. I personally would like to have two rather than one hook for laces on each side. ... show more

  • Great 3/4 ankle boots for people with certain foot issues.
Size: 11.5 Color: Walnut
I have drop foot in my right leg, happened when I was a 25 yr old when my pelvis was broken and I wear an AFO inside the shoe to give my toes elevation and do not trip. You can't imagine the difficulty in finding shoes I can wear comfortably with such a condition. The shoes are either too narrow at the toe box and painfully squeeze my toes or two narrow in the center of the foot and the brace will not fit inside. Many times, when I cannot find a wide style shoe, I have to buy a half size or full size larger just to fit the brace and end up tripping often from the extra length. The last pair of boots I bought were Salomon XAforce which were $200 a few years back. Since they are 3 yrs old and a light coyote brown color they have become dingy. They are great boots, probably the best but I didn't have $220 to spend. I decided to give Merrell a try because my 77 yr old uncle, who is also well aware of a good boot from his days in Vietnam, had a pair on one day. After reading several positive reviews, I purchased. The Salomon XAs took at least 3 months to break in, they were so uncomfortable in the beginning but these Merrill boots were comfortable right out of the box it actually surprised me because that almost NEVER happens. My foot is very tender in spots and some days it can be painful just to put ON a shoe. My brace fit in with no modifying whatsoever and the toe box doesn't scrunch my toes and make it painful like some other boots can. Laced up nice and tight they feel great on my feet and I can wear them all day with bo problems, which I cannot do with just any ol shoe. The bottom sole grips snow and ice and I feel fairly confident I will not slip on my butt on the icy Colorado ground. I've only had them about 4 months but so far everything has held up and I've had no problems. They've become even more comfortable than my Salomons and I wear them just as much if not more. Only time will tell if they last as long. I'm glad I got these either way when comparing price and now I'm Merrell guy just as much as Salomon, thanks uncle! 👍🏻 ... show more

  • Comforable !!!!!!
Size: 12.5 Color: Walnut
I haven't worn this new pair, but they look good and it appears some issues with my old pair have been rectified, so I expect them to hold up well. I'll update if this is not the case in a year or two. My old pair is still quite functional, but are kind of disintegrating cosmetically. Plastic up the back has separated, a bit of peeling here and there, etc. But, they must be 6 or 8 years old and have a lot of miles on them. ... show more

  • Very good value!
Size: 14 Color: Black Night
These boots are a pleasant surprise. Not just for the quality of materials and fit but the price is great for what you get. They fit like a long worn boot from the first time I put them on. They have good thermal properties. Haven't tried them in winter yet, but I can tell you thaty feet have remained relatively cool even in 90 degree heat. That they are lightweigh is surprising as well. Overall I'm very impressed with this boot. ... show more

  • Very comfortable boot, could use some more arch support
Size: 10.5 Color: Walnut
This is my first summertime hiking boot and I can say I’m pretty impressed. There are several points where I would’ve twisted my ankle had been wearing shoes without support, but this handled rocky and loose tering like a champ. The grip was great especially as someone recovering from a knee surgery because I felt like I had a good footing no matter where I was walking. The fit was pretty good I think, but I didn’t end up with a few blisters after miles of hiking so I’ll see how that goes as I break it in a bit more. The one thing I did notice was that the balls of my feet and my arches got a bit tired quicker than the rest of my foot, but that could be a personal thing. My point there being, consider getting insoles if you have foot issues. ... show more

  • Their wide width is true.
Size: 8 Wide Color: Walnut
I have wide feet and a high instep. I tried Wolverine, Keen, Columbia, and Timberland and none were wide enough. Finally- I found wide width to be wide with Merrell. No breaking in. I have to add arch supports per my podiatrist. He wanted me in hi-tops or boots for ankle support. The price is right on these. Every other boot I tried was over $120. Merrell is quality. I have Fred Flinstone feet and these are great. The other boots' wide width just wasn't wide enough. ... show more

  • Work boots
Size: 10 Color: Black Night
I must say he absolutely loves this boot. It’s durable. It fits very well. And I will be ordering these again for him. We’ve bought lots of boots for him to work in and he’s very satisfied with these. He works on cement floors and in the dirt and gravel. Thank you 🙏

  • Best Classic Hiking Boots
Size: 13 Wide Color: Walnut
This is my third pair of the same model. Serves me very well on hikes with moderate packs. I am rather heavy .. 26olb .. and carrying usually around 30lb in the backpack. Boots offer outstanding comfort when wearing double socks (typical hiking setup). Short brake-in period. Considering buying an extra pair in case they wont be available in the future ... show more
