Merrell makes great shoes. The Vibram soles are durable and provideremarkabletraction. I have a pair that are similar, same type of sole, and they are over 10 years old. They last! Very well made shoes for hiking and urban street walking. The size 10 W(EE) gives you plenty of room. If you size up 1/2 size it's possible you may feel like they're too large unless you wear thicker hiking socks, then it's perfect. Comfortable without cramping your feet. If you wear athletic type running socks, in my opinion, too much room, not snug. My answer to all of this was to place another running shoe insole, or orthotic insert, on top of the Merrell insole, and it was a perfect fit for normal thickness athletic socks. You can have it both ways with socks of different thickness. The overall weight is heavy like a boot, but I think it should be for protection and durability. These are awesome shoes and they look great! If you haven't owned a pair of Merrell shoes, I think you will love this brand and shoe. ... show more

Happy with shoe. After two and a half years of use, the left shoe is developing a hole on in the matrial at the 'toe box.' Shoes were comfortable enough to wear them many hours a day. Light weight and stable during moderate hiking days. I no longer hike rugged trails so no idea how they might stand up to the AT. 4 STARS !!! However, after reading the reveiws, I will not be buying a Merrell product until they come clean on their warranty practices. 0 STARS ... show more

    • GREAT shoe if you have wide toes and need lots of support!
Wow! I have wide toes and fairly severe peripheral neuropathy in my feet. Based on reviews, I bought a pair of Hoka's. They were plenty wide, but lacking support. Today I tried on these Merrell Moab 2's, and they are unbelievable! They are wide in the toes but less wide elsewhere, and have a huge amount of lateral support. They also distribute my weight when walking much better than the Hoka's. They also look 1000% better than the truly ugly Hoka's, which are long and wide to the extent that they interfere with driving my manual transmission truck. They also look really sturdy.
