  • Very stable footing.
Size: 9.5 Color: Walnut
We bought several pairs of these when our hikes got more extreme than sneakers could handle, amd with rare exception are now my go to shoes. I also own the waterproof version of this in a different color and this breathes much better due to the vents on the side that allow the shoe to breathe, and take in water if not careful. Took a long hike after they were broken in, and no problems whatsoever. Make sure the tongue gussets are pushed up or you will feel some pain at the top of the foot. I suggest new insoles, as the originals are not what they used to be and I wish more companies would charge an extra few dollars and provide a decent insole, but every company seems to be doing the same thing unfortunately. Overall a great shoe for all but the most extreme hiker or climber and a good value. ... show more

  • This is the only shoe that can handle my walking lod.
Size: 9.5 Color: Walnut
My dog and I walk quite a lot every day. We average 30.4 miles/week says Strava. A pair of Merrils will last about a year for me with that walking load. Which doesn't sound like much, but I tried a pair of Sketchers. They lasted 3 months. A cheap ass air of Nikes lasted almost 4 weeks. The arch support on these shoes is ok, but not great. I'm on my 3rd pair and I swap out the insole for one with better support. Doing so mostly got rid of the planar fasciitis in my left foot. ... show more

  • Very light weight, love those shoes
Size: 10 Color: Walnut
I got these for $55 through Amazon before a hiking trip to AZ. I was surprised on how light these shoes feel, and are! They are study yet very comfortable. So glad I got these. The arch support is great, the fit well and the laces are very strong. Its anything they're a tad too long, but I can live with that ... show more

  • Great shoes! Runs small in length.
These are very well made and provide excellent support. I wear size 12 but ordered 13's. The 13's fit very nicely. The width in the toe box is excellent -- a pleasant feature given that Sketchers and others seem to think a narrowing at the toe is what we want. Maybe it's a desire to look streamlined or stylish, but my toes are the widest part of my foot. Every shoe manufacturer should know we need this room for toes, but they seem to have forgotten this. Also, by the way, they kept my feet dry during a week-long rainy vacation while everyone else was soggy. The rubber comes up a little higher from the sole, and it made a huge difference. ... show more

  • Okay
Size: 8.5 Color: Beige
They eventually turn into sneakers when the insoles wear out but the tread is unlike any sneaker, they grip really well and wear well. 2 years with this pair almost every day use and still going strong. Love them and got a spare for when they wear out. Pretty true to size also.

  • Good not great
I have worn these for years, three pair/ year if I can't have the original Moab this will do. I get 1200 trail miles out of a pair, the heel look eyelet is gone , toe box is roomy, insoles are paper thin, you will need a upgrade..

  • Nice hiking shoe
Size: 10 Color: Walnut
I hike in my local Oregon state park hills about 5 miles 5 days a week. Loose condition trail, some rocky, this time of year some mud and wet conditions in general. This shoe works well for all of what I have thrown at it so far. Note I have not tried this trail yet in dry Summer like conditions, so time will tell about traction in that condition. But so far it's been great and comfortable with no break in required. Not the updated MOAB version 3 with what they say is an improved tread design, but this was less cost and works fine for me. Traction has been good in all conditions tried and no wet feet. ... show more

  • Great shoe... 1/2 size shorter than other brands
Size: 10.5 Color: Walnut
I wear a 10.5 men's shoe. I have numerous other pairs of hiking shoes, boots, and running shoes. These Merrill shoes are a very comfortable shoe, wide in the toe box with moderate arch support. However they are shorter than 3 other brands of shoes that I compared them against by placing them against each other with heels against a flat surface and seeing how they line up. Wearing a single pair of thin socks, they were too small for my foot. I returned them and reordered a size 11. ... show more
