Many years ago I bought a pair of Merrill shoes that I LOVED, and while they are really worn down, I still wear them when I just need to run out quick, or need something to throw on for a minute. I bought a new pair - the same style, but canvas upper instead of leather - which barely lasted a year... I was so disappointed!!! I was hesitant about ordering these, but needed a new pair of 'weather resistant' shoes for this winter - I live in Michigan, so they need to be warm, water resistant and have decent traction in icy conditions - so I decided to give them a try. Like I said in the headline, they are a bit more 'bulky' than I usually like to wear, but other than that I'm happy with them. Even through our 'Christmas week blizzard' last month, they did great - even when I had to go out and shovel my driveway! I have never had a better fitting and more comfortable shoe than the Merrell MOAB2. That's all I buy each year, for many years. I use the Waterproof in the winter and the Ventilator in the the other seasons. I use orthotics and just remove the insole cushion and the orthotics fit in fine and the shoe still fits great. This is my daily shoe that I wear all day long, and it's awesome! No complaints after many, many, pairs of these shoes. ... show more

    • Moabs are one of many Merrell shoe, walkers, boots. This one is beyond expectations.

This is my 5th or 6th set of Merrills. So with that said, the reader can see what I think about them. While not waterproof, they stand up to the rain nicely - there are waterproof Merrills. Dirty? Take out the shoe strings and throw them in the wash. They'll come out looking almost new. I have a foot that is a bit wide and these fit perfectly, but if your foot is narrow, don't be afraid to get these. Right now, I own three pairs: the one pictured here, one of the original Moab colors and one for working around the yard. I love the ones pictured here because they are a gorgeous light green. My wife can vouch for Merrills - man or woman, you can't go wrong with any one of the Merrill family of walkers, hikers. Merrills used to have a thin collar at the heel, and after a lot of wear, it would begin to tear. The new ones don't do that. If you're looking for a pair of walkers that look great on your feet, are comfortable and will last, get these. ... show more

Bought this to work on my roof sometimes. As it was rated as one of the highest in that respect. To my surprise, this shoe is simply comfortable to wear. Be it walking, working or just standing. It is not fur running as little heavy, but definitely 5 star shoe for comfort and quality.

I’m 72 years old and have had to buy wide width shoes and have them fitted with arch supports or install them myself. So for a high-arched and wide-width foot (and these shoes are available and a wide width for an 11 1/2 size) they are perfect right out of the box. Since I have discovered them, I don’t buy any others. I use the black colored version instead of black leather dress shoes when I can get away with it. ... show more

I bought this as it was a recommended walking shoe for heavyset people. I’ve tried many shoes and my feet always end up hurting if I take long walks (6-8 hours). These have been decently comfortable however the arch does feel like it’s a bit toward the back (heel) rather than actually on the foot arch. It doesn’t bother me too much as this just feels unfamiliar. I tested them out and so far so good. In addition, they seem to get warm really quick, being in the desert this may cause a problem when it starts to heat up. One more thing to note is they seem more khaki than olive green, the picture seems to be a bit deceiving. Well, soon I’ll be going on a descent long term hike averaging 20 - 30 miles a day for about a week. I’ll take these shoes on the trip and write back later about my experience. ... show more

These seem to run a half size small. I normally am a size 10 but had to return for a 10.5. Nice quality shoe but seem to run small. Could be a particular factory ? Noticed other complaints with the same issue.

Its always hit or miss when buying shoes online. These were a perfect fit and they felt great on my feet. Arch support is also great. These shoes are built with good quality material and I would buy them again.
