I bought 5 pairs so far. I like hiking and I work quite a bit in the woods and my yard. I am often working on a slope and since I am a heavy guy, I put a lot of strain on the boots. I also step into puddles not to widen trails and create larger mud patches, and I fight invasive plants alongside creeks and often step into water. All that said the boots are holding up much better than any other brands that I owned. I always keep a new pair and an old pair around to have two pairs that are broken in (actually these boots don't need break in with my feet, so it's more testing, making sure the form hasn't changed since the last pair). The only weak spot are those compound lug soles. I like Vibram since it's indestructible but I see the benefit of combining a hard polymer with a softer polymer to create better grip on rocks. At some point the outside parts of the soles delaminate, come loose and not much later the profile is usually reduced enough to make the boots unsafe on rocks. I get about ~1 year of hard use out of the boot. ... show more

I am pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they are after wearing them in. I'm not a big fan, of water proof boots because you get wet feet because they don't breathe. These feel so comfortable when worn, I barely notice how wet they get from wearing them all day. I took them to Disneyland, and had no pain after a long day of hard walking! Having a bit wider foot has always been an issue when searching for hiking shoes for my husband. He fell in love with these shoes at a local outdoor store but they did not have them in wide sizes. Instead of waiting over a week to have them shipped from the manufacturer with potential return fees, we opted to order on Amazon. The shoe fits well and is the exact width he needed. They give me blisters unless I wear thick socks, so make sure to buy a size above your normal size, and don't wear them everyday if you work in a wet place, otherwise you'll get fungal infections. I found out first hand...they don't let moisture in, but they also don't let it out, and sometimes they can't seal all the water out, so it'll get a bit wet inside when tromping through big puddles, and then stay wet the entire rest of the day. Otherwise, a great shoe, they've lasted me almost a year now, which is super rare for any shoe with me, and don't show barely any wear, despite my constant use. ... show more
